The rooms, food, location, beer, and vibes are amazing. In particular, I like how the hotel is walking distance – even with luggage – from the train station, but not in a touristy spot. With just a 10-15m walk, you can get to the heart of tourism.

FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

Went for the festival and so it was more expensive than other times but just a wonderful experience. You can easily get around and combine sight seeing with festival events plus loads of shopping - not just tourist shopping. Love, love, love Edinburgh!

We avoided spending much time in Edinburgh when we learned there was a huge festival going on. We flew in for a nearby walking trip. Once there we could see that it is a beautiful city with lots of history and excellent public transportation. The tram is easy to use. We took a train from Waverly Station and found that simple to do. We spent some time in a park near Princes Street. A lovely city.

if you want to be in the middle of the buzz then this is the place to be we went to the tattoo saw some of the fringe in the street very entertaining taxis you can get at destiny the accommodation is basic but at an affordable price lots of people saying how much the hotels had been charging and was astronomical prices hence why we looked at Destiny along side many others.

Edinburgh is a beautiful city to visit.

Edinburgh is a beautiful city to visit. Unfortunately, August isn't the best month unless you're a fan of the Fringe Festival. This year, the heatwave brought out the locals as well. Aside from the crowds, it's a magical and intriguing city. Don't forget to visit the Royal Botanic Garden and Arthur's Seat. This last destination requires proper footwear, knowing that it's a somewhat challenging hike and the paths aren't always well-marked or well-maintained. We didn't visit Edinburgh Castle, it was fully booked for the entire month. So, if you want to see it, be sure to book ahead. Lastly, Edinburgh is expensive, both for hotels and for food (which, unfortunately, isn't always of the highest quality despite the price). It should be noted, however, that the price hike may be related to the Fringe Festival.

The location is perfect when you want to explore the city centre of Edinburgh. The breakfast is a buffet where you can find croissants, muffins, all different types of drinks, eggs, bacon and sausages, to summarize a full breakfast. They do vegetarian options as well. The staff was very helpful. If you drive to the hotel, there is a parking nearby. There was a daily discount offered by the hotel. I definitely recommend staying at the Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh Royal Mile Hotel.

Hotel was clean, and breakfast was delicious. We came for the royal Highland show, and the location of the hotel was close to the show ground, so didn't need to travel far to get too it. Also there is a 3 minute walk from the hotel to a tram stop, which is cheap and you can get straight on and into the city centre of Edinburgh in minutes
