My room was spacious, comfortable and quiet, and it was what I expected from the Novotel brand, though I found the per night rate to be on the high side. I liked that there was a working desk, and an elevated space for my luggage. It was also within walking distance from a 24h Woolworths, and the DFO.

FAQs about hotels in Brisbane

Sun-drenched & Leafy

At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laid-back Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s artsy South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just across the river is the towering skyline of Brisbane's central business district, the location of many hotels in central Brisbane.

Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. There are more shopping centers all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.

This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south, you can hug one of the lovable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.

Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks, Wickham Park, contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the northeast, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.

Booking.com has plenty of downtown hotels, and other accommodations near Brisbane Airport in a northeastern coastal suburb.

We were using Brisbane as a base and it worked well for exploring. The Australia Zoo is about an hour north and well worth a visit. Can highly recommend the Anyday restaurants. We ate at both Bianca and sAme sAme and the food was excellent, as was the ambience and the staff.

Staying in the South Brisbane/South Bank/West End area was ideal. Very easy access to the city and surrounds either walking or by using public transport (ferry, train, bus). The Brisbane public transport system is pretty good, and currently only 50c per trip!

    I love Brisbane

I love Brisbane it is a clean city and is easy to get around. There are lots of great places to eat although avoid 'Sixes and Sevens" its terrible. South bank is great to walk along and the ferry is lots of fun and a great way to see the city. Lone Pine Koala santuary was good, although felt the experience with the Koala was overpriced

The pool area was fantastic. The location was great. 5 minute walk to free ferry. Quiet spot but close to city. Parking was also cheaper than cbd apartments. We had a one bedroom unit at the back of the complex that overlooked the pool. The apartment was spacious with a large balcony. We booked this apartment because of the affordable price compared to the city. It was a quick walk to the river to view the fireworks display.

Great location with stunning views. Handy to the Southbank Parklands and other walking paths - eg. Kangaroo cliffs; Botanic Gardens. Easy walk to many eating places and about 15 minute walk into the CBD (otherwise can catch the free Kitty Cat ferry which departs from the jetty just below the apartments)

Our family loved the rooftop pool and spa. Apartment was good value for money, a short 2 min drive to Newstead shopping centre with cafes and restaurants. 10 min drive to Brisbane CBD and Southbank (great for kids) Rambla staff Ros was very accommodating, and quick to respond to any questions.
