An interesting historic seafaring town with plenty of places to explore. The church and abbey are a must to visit and the fish and chips at Trenchers are outstanding. Overall, a great place to spend a long weekend.

the hop on/hop off bus tour. the variety of eating and entertainment venues. the friendliness of everyone. We visited on folk festival weekend and, although we are not into folk music, the events such as Morris dancing and pub entertainment were really good. We would recommend the Fisherman's Wife seafood restaurant and Harry's Bar.

Whitby is a beautiful harbour town with the a treasure of history. The little quaint streets with all the shops add to the character. There is also the abbey with lots of stories about Dracula residing there. There is something for everyone, arcades and beaches for the kids, lots and lots of pubs for the adults, many museums and lots of specialist shops (cakes/sweets/jewellery etc..). There are many people offering boat trips and there is a pirate boat trip for the kids.

We have been all over the East coast but Whitby is our go to place . We personally love it,from the little Whitby jet shops to the numerous pubs and restaurants . We walked the Cleveland way from Whitby to Robin Hoods bay...

We walked the Cleveland way from Whitby to Robin Hoods bay and then the cinder track back. The walking was lovely, cinder track is much flatter but less scenic. We visited all of the tourist sites including the lovely little museum in Pannet Park. Beach was clean, but check your tide times. There's easy crabbing in the harbour. We visited in August and you could hardly move through the streets at times because there were so many people, I think visiting at a quarter time of year would have been more pleasant.

The Resolution is in a good area of Whitby. It's surrounded by some lovely, individual shops & cafés and within easy walking distance of the town. The hotel is very comfortable and staff are really welcoming. Our room was spacious and we had a picturesque view of the town and harbour from our window, including a great view of the Abbey. Breakfast was excellent. Everything was freshly cooked to order. The staff were lovely & it was an efficient service.

We have stayed in Whitby before but parking is always an issue so we were thrilled to find this hotel with parking situated just outside the town and right opposite the Park and Ride service. We were able to travel to Whitby and then catch buses to Robin Hood's bay and Scarborough. The Stables is comfortable with beautiful accommodation and lovely grounds. The staff are helpful and friendly and we had some excellent meals.
