Excellent base for exploring the wider Lakes, however Bowness is very beautiful in its own right! Lots of options to relax and entertain people of all ages. A wealth of dining experiences are available and the scenery is out of this world! Travellers with limited mobility may struggle with some terrain (unsurprisingly, lots of steep gradients), however there are plenty of places that are easy to get around, and public transport is fantastic. The people of the North West are lovely, friendly, and very welcoming. Food is varied, tasty and always generously portioned. There’s something about the clean air in the Lakes that immediately makes you relax and unwind. A gorgeous part of the world!

bowness get very busy at peak times... still a nice a place to visit. seeing and feeding the swans and geese was nice .... just be aware there where lots of rats round there getting the food from the floor. Alot of transport from here, boat trips and lots off buses. Go on the mountain goat trip takes you all over the lakes in a mini coach with a guided tour. A fantastic place to eat is broadwalk bar and grill... you have to pre book to get in, if you manage to go get seated upstairs and ask for tubbs .. a waiter at broadwalk what a fantastic bloke, he is so funny, always cracking jokes to you and the kids.

A great place to visit, our best tip if you have a bus pass pay for the whole day to park and use the excellent bus service which saves paying for parking in each town you visit. Buses run every 20 minutes to Grassmere via Windmere and Ambleside.

2nd time in Bowness on Windermere.

2nd time in Bowness on Windermere. Lovely shops, and eateries. Lake Windermere has boat trips to Ambleside. It was a pleasant trip there and back though got quite windy. There are a lot of other things to do but we were only there a couple of days. We had Spanish Tapas in Bodego and the food was delicious and also we had great pub grub in The Royal Oak.

The location is excellent , just a short stroll into the center of bowness on Windermere but nice and quiet when back at the apartments. The gardens are lovely and relaxing after a day out walking . We liked how easy it was to enter the apartments with the code sent on the day of our arrival. We also liked the 11:00 check out time as this gave us plenty of time to get packed up without rushing. Would highly recommend.
