Hotel Argentina, hotel in Florence

Hotel Argentina is a few steps from the River Arno, less than a 10-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella Station. Staff at this 3-star hotel speak good English.

The front staff was so helpful during our stay. They answered our many questions, made an excellent dinner recommendation, loaned us an adapter after we left ours on the train and even called a taxi for us the morning we left. Our room had four twin beds which worked well for our family of 4 adults. It was an easy 15 minute walk to the tours we booked at the Uffizi, Accademia, and Duomo. It was close to the river and even to a ferris wheel we rode on our last night before heading home. The area felt safe. The room photos on booking.com are accurate.

Florence is overwhelmingly beautiful and packed with history and sites to dazzle anyone with even a passing interest in history or art. A walking tour to kick off your visit is strongly encouraged as it helps you to get your bearings. Bring comfortable walking shoes! The Hotel Magnifico lives up to its name. The rooftop terrace is worth a visit. Its head mixologist (Adamo) is professional and very enthusiastic. Food and drinks were pricey but worth it - a true experience! Consider visiting in the shoulder seasons to avoid the huge crowds.

Beautiful city - the old part is very compact snd very flat, so easy to walk around. Ther are hundreds of restaurants, big and small, so eating out is simply a matter of choice. The city is both busy and expensive, and the main attractions are best booked in advance to avois long queues.

There is lots to see in Florence and it would be best to see 1 attraction a day, a maximum 2. I would recommend it, especially to art lovers! I would not really recommend it with a toddler though. There is much to see for adults, toddlers might get bored. The roads are not very stroller-friendly as the wheels tend to get stuck a lot. Coming from a sunny country myself I did not expect it to be so hot already at the beginning of June, I would suggest going towards the end of September.

    PLan ahead !

PLan ahead ! Lots of things needed pre-booking so if you don't plan you miss out. Experiences not published such as the walk to the Rose Garden and watching the sunset - hundreds there but we came across it by accident. Watch out for the Tourist traps - book and stay 2 or 3 blocks back from the old city for a better experience. Take GOOD walking shoes.

We loved Florence and hope to return.

We loved Florence and hope to return. I would avoid climbing up the Duomo and Bell Tower. Our legs ached for 3 days after and its just a gimmicky thing to do. Much better views from the viewing point across the river. Inside the Duomo Cathedral is really not so great. From outside, it's superb, but there are many better church interiors in the city. We found Uffizzi to be too overwhelming in a way. Unless you want to specifically see the greats that are displayed there, spend a few hours at Pitti Palace instead. Superb! Food and wine everywhere was outstanding. And of course Gelato. Our favourite restaurant was Bettegone in Piazza Duomo. Top quality. Highlight of our trip was going twice to St Marks Anglican Church to see 2 amazing performances- Italian Love Duets on first night and La Traviata on second night. This was a lucky find. Don't miss it! A very intimate setting, outstanding performers, great acoustics. The information isn't on their website oddly enough, but do your research and you should find it. Performances throughout the year. Wear good walking shoes in Florence. We walked miles every day

Florence is an easy city to visit as it is smaller and more welcoming. You cannot get lost. Lots to see and do, I would have loved to visit the monuments or the galleries I could not do on this trip. The small plazas offer restaurants you can eat leisurely or have a drink at and there is an ongoing life around them. The Ponte Vecchio is charming, easy to stroll along both sides of the river where you can see all the bridges and merchants. I was mesmerized by the beauty of Florence churches, basilica and synagogue. And a stroll in the Boboli gardens allows you to admire its beauty and recharge your energy. Definitely a city NOT to miss!

Staff was perfectly efficient. It was very calm at night. No drunken shouting in the corridors, although the hostel was full. It was my first experience in a hostel. Mattress was hard orthopaedic - just how j like it for my back.I had a private room similar to the hotel. And I liked my stay. Breakfast was an extra 9 eur. But it was a good buffet. Scrumble omlet was nice to have before exploring Florence. Not in each 3-star hotel you can get it in Italy. Check out is at 10.00. But you can use luggage room for 3 eur per day. Convenient.

I can't imagine a better location. The hotel is located in the main plazza in Florence. The most famous historical placed that we wanted to visit were a 5 minute walk. It was great having two bedrooms. We stayed in the penthouse, and the views were spectaccular of the Palazzo Vechhio and the rest of Florence. Florence was really hot, but the hotel had the BEST AIR CONDITIONING, which is not common in Italy. I wish I knew the name of the woman working at the receptions desk. She was incredibly kind and helpful.

Very convenient location close to city center and the central train station. Very authentic place. Maria Antonia is very pleasant woman, extremely welcoming. She touched my heart by her hospitality, attention and willingness to help. She prepared for us delicious, generous breakfast, one of the best we've had during our stay in Italy. The location is second to none. It was fantastic having a centrally located well-appointed apartment walking distance to all the sights Florence has on offer. Italy has notoriously small hotel rooms, so having an apartment with a large bedroom, renovated bathroom, lounge and dining area was exactly what we needed. Best hotel I've stayed in Italy so far. The staff were very friendly and attentive to every need.
