The Allerton Rooftop bar on the 17th floor is a good place to take in views of the city. The food is not good but the service is good. It’s a busy spot at night. But if you aren’t interested in nightlife you can sit and have your (free on the first floor) cup of coffee there in the morning and likely have the place to yourself. The first for lounge (drinks & snacks) is comfortable and low key.

The variety of activities available in this amazing city is beyond impressive. Our short trip included walking the High Line, taking a tour at the 9/11 Museum and Memorial, visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, checking out Chelsea Market and the West Village as well as seeing two shows. We packed in a lot in 3 days!

get on a walking tour, book everything before travel, its mighty busy. Watch out for belongings, we had a carry on stolen from Bagel Pub on 7th, who only have security cameras switched on from 11am. use the same credit card for the whole family on the subway, it stops charging at $33. The subway is reliable cheap and quick compared to walking or cabs. Surprisingly NYC is a really cycle friendly city- rent a citibike and cruise around early before rush hour [which is 7am for the rest of the day]- they have e-bikes also. Chelsea Market is great for ad hoc stand up lunch

New York is a great city to visit any time of year with its awesome history and famous landmarks being almost on your door step.
This was my second visit here my last visit we stayed with an American family across the river in New Jersey which was a good experience for us plus it was during Halloween too. However our location for our recent visit was on 36th street which is within walking distance to most things. So for the extra that you pay for where your located its worth it in the long run.

Always a good option to get your fix for a big city vibe.
Always a good option to get your fix for a big city vibe. This time it was a lot cleaner thank the last time we visited, there was police presence everywhere around the main attractions which made us feel really safe. We visited Central Park (could spend days here 🙂), 911 memorial (very impressive), Battery Park area, China Town, Little Italy and Greenwich Village.

All the major attractions were relatively close together.
All the major attractions were relatively close together. City is ideal to walk. Hop on, hop off bus although a bit pricey was good value. Enjoyed seeing Times Square at night and going to a Broadway show. Late spring/early summer is the ideal time to spend in New York with the weather being mainly settled and not too hot.

A big happening city that lives up to its reputation with a vibrant arts scene and gorgeous early 20th century architecture, leafy open spaces and well connected streets with an efficient, although very grubby subway system.
The theatre district, Banksy Museum, Met Opera are worth every minute.
This famed buzz and style are hopelessly marred by pavements that are stained with dog poo, with a perennial stink of dog urine because NY dog owners refuse to rinse down their pets' mess, leaving it to the rain to clean the streets, thus contaminating pedestrian walkways for everyone
The location was perfect. Right opposite Byrant Park which has a wonderful Christmas market at this time of the year. I went to New York to run the New York City Marathon the bus taking me to start of the marathon was right outside the hotel. It couldn’t be more perfect. The bed was so comfortable it was unbelievable. The staff were professional and courteous. There’s a wonderful lounge and outdoor terrace on the sixth floor. All in all my stay in the hotel in the center of New York, was like a dream. It was magical.
Location is excellent, right in midtown manhattan, easy access to all the sights and areas of NYC. The room is small, but so are all the rooms in NYC really, the bed is huge and very comfortable and that is all you need when visiting this city. We didn't have any issues with space. Having travelled in various areas of the world and stayed in some luxurious accommodation, this place is perfectly acceptable for new york. Safe, comfortable, warm, convenient, cheap.
Hotel is well located in the financial district, close to the waterfront and Brooklyn Bridge. Easy to get in and out of. Neighborhood is quiet compared to midtown, which is nice. You still have plenty of places to go eat / drink around.
The rooms are very big for NYC, and the bedding is high quality (down filled pillows and good mattresses).
The staff is also very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is also quite cheap considering this is New-York City.
What a little hidden gem in the middle of Manhattan just a very short walk from the steps at Times Square. A small boutique hotel with beautiful rooms and modern bathrooms. Shona , the hotel manager, always on hand to deal with any queries and to help with any questions you have about the city from shopping to restaurants to directions . Nothing was any trouble to her and her wonderful staff. Hotel has a fantastic bar and a great restaurant too.
Very quiet, cozy and pleasant environment, friendly people, cozy rooms, warmth and moderate comfort. In addition to everything, a comfortable and good bed, a closet for luggage and clothes. The room is small, but it does not create discomfort. At this price, there is no better place in midtown Manhattan. We spent eight happy days in New York and the hotel environment made the trip more enjoyable.
We had a great experience at the Moderne NYC. The location was excellent, with Columbus circle a very short walk, and easy distance for Times Square. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and a good size for New York. Best of all were the team- we spent a week at the hotel and everyone we met was kind and accommodating.
We will book here again the next time we’re in New York.
Location was fantastic right in the middle of Manhattan, walking distance to Empire State Building, Times square. We even walked to Central Park. We were offered a ride to the airport at fixed rate lower than Taxi & Uber. We would stay at this hotel again if we go back to New York. We would recommend it to anyone going to New York. The room was clean.
The location can't be beat. If you want to be near Times Square or the theater district, this is where you want to be. The room was a decent size for New York City and the staff was always very helpful. Breakfast was included in the price - the Grab and Go was handy but for $5 - the french toast in the cafe was definitely worth it.
This hotel is well located in Midtown Manhattan, close to the E Subway line. It is easy walking distance to many of NY city sights including St. Patricks Cathedral, Rockefeller Centre, Times Square. The room was spacious with 2 good sized double beds, ideal for a family of four. Staff were very friendly and hotel was very clean.
My 3rd time staying here. Once again the best place I've stayed & I've stayed in "MAYBE" New York City Hotels (as a BORN & RAISED New Yorker.) The front desk staff is by far the best of any place I've stayed. Rooms & Hotel are very clean. The Door Men are SUPER cool & give you the feeling you've known them for years!!
Best view of Manhattan. U can see all the skyscrapers. Tram ride is the best. Riding between the houses is cool. From there 15 minutes to central Park. Ferry Ride to Wall street is nice. Hotel is quiet, Not in the loud City Center. Friendly people. Taxi from times Square about 35 $
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It is very cheap for the city center, very clean, cozy, comfortable. It totally exceeded our expectations. The stuff is perfect, very polite and nice. Everything is very close to the hotel. We would absolutelly recomend.
Mortenegro crew 🇲🇪
Location of the hotel was great. One block from times square and around the corner from the theatre showing Lion King. Also close to most of the tourist attractions. A good midtown spot for the price you are paying. Decent size room for a Manhattan hotel.
This is a small, quiet hotel, with an "old-world" ambiance.
They have a small, but very welcome, free breakfast.
While hotels in New York City are very expensive, in general, at least you won't have to pay the outrageous "Resort Fee" at this one!
This is my second time staying at Arlo Midtown and it's just the best hotel! Staff are friendly and accommodating, rooms are clean, beds are comfy, and the value in New York City is unmatched. Location is extremely central for a quick trip.
Great location near Times square and theatre district. Felt safe in the neighborhood. Room was comfortable aside from bedding. Plenty of places to eat in the surrounding area. Great city view from our room on the 15th floor.
The rooms were not too small for New York City standards. The hotel is very close to several metro stations and also to Penn Station should you be taking a train somewhere outside of NYC and close to other attractions.
The location right next to Central Park and within walking distance of Broadway, Times Square etc is good for a first time visitor to the city. It was the cheapest place I could find in Manhattan.
The location was nice: near Central Park and Times Square.
Also, a few subway stations at walking distance.
The hotel was a good starting point for visiting Manhattan overall.
The hotel is located very close to Times Square and many of the sights are within walking distance. Thus, central location in Manhattan is the main thing about this hotel.
