This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. Every corner looks like a movie location. The position is ideal and extremely peaceful, and there is a very high level of attention to detail throughout the hotel. I particularly appreciated the garden and the apothecary. The staff is genuinely kind and attentive, making sure that you can make the most out of your stay. Very good breakfast as well. This is a place to live and enjoy, not only to sleep in.

What wonderful people! So friendly and helpful. Ate at the restaurant, food was fabulous. The breakfast hamper was the most adorable thing! The rooms are all new, decorated so nicely. I loved that we could smell the wood as if it were just cut.

FAQs about hotels in Wales

Land of the Hills and the Dales

A land of magnificent mountains, centuries-old castles and beautiful beaches, Wales is steeped in proud tradition. A centre of culture, its elegant capital Cardiff houses some of the 5-star hotels in Wales on Booking.com.

Swansea has several Wales hotels with swimming pools and is the gateway to the tranquil Gower Peninsula. It was also the birthplace of Dylan Thomas, whose famous boathouse is in Laugharne near the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

Within this park are St Davids, the UK’s smallest city, and the colourful South Wales beach resort of Tenby. Other beach resorts include the university town of Aberystwyth, Barmouth and Prestatyn with its Blue-Flag beach. Popular Llandudno has a long pier sheltered by a headland.

Also with a pier is Bangor, opposite Anglesey - a rugged island known for wildlife. It looks back towards Snowdonia National Park, whose changing landscapes encompass Wales’ tallest mountain. Within the park are serene Bala Lake and Betws-y-Coed whose fast-flowing river becomes the Swallow Falls.

The Brecon Beacons house more lush peaks, while Chepstow to the south-east has a racecourse and riverfront Norman castle. Other fantastic Wales castles are in Conwy, Harlech and Caernarfon – possibly the best of them all.

Wrexham is the largest North Wales town with great nightlife, while nearby Llangollen is best known as for its International Eisteddfod.

The view of the sea, early in the morning, sitting in the window was incredible. So relaxing, area was quiet, room was spacious, breakfast was lovely. Fresh flowers in the room were a nice touch. Plus the made the bed is made every day and gave fresh towels every day, in the spirit of sustainability, I haven’t seen that in a hotel in quite a while.

Arrived by train knowing nothing of Cardiff.

Arrived by train knowing nothing of Cardiff. Big tip - do homework first. Work out what you want to see. With no map and no knowledge this was very much a first exploratory trip. Transport - the central rail station is right opposite the bus terminus so don't waste time wandering around looking for bus stops. Bus No 6 takes you to Cardiff Bay and the Millenium Centre. Buses are frequent. Cardiff Bay area lovely and quiet for strolling and watching birds as they land on jettys in the water. In March the city was quiet as if holding it's breath for an intake of visitors. Multiple choices for dining, something for all tastes. Next visit will be for a day to visit the museum and gallery just outside the city centre but an easy bus ride away.......take bus pass if old enough to have one.

Beautiful unspoilt beach.

Beautiful unspoilt beach. Plenty of accommodation for all, including dog friendly places. Lots of places to eat. We ate at the dog-friendly Albert & The Snowdon & had really good meals at both pubs. Also plenty of cafes like the Barnacles where we enjoyed a sandwich lunch. Lovely staff. Lots of shops where you can browse & find a bargain. Perfect for walking as it’s flat & suitable for those with poor mobility. Llandudno is a great location for visiting other places such as Conwy & Anglesey.

Visiting family and so had already visited most of the cultural bits. Very convenient for shopping and you could have walked along the sand to the main shopping centre (but didn't because it was wet and windy). Plenty of coffee shops. Visited Mumbles - lovely traditional old fashioned seaside place with lots of fresh fish and independent shops. You can walk to Mumbles from Swansea along the seafront when the weather is nice.

We have been regular visitirs to Betws for several years in early January and stayed in the hotels and rented cottages, along with driving our campervan and staying on the campsite. It is a beautiful place to say but is looking tired. Every year shops state they are holding closing down sales that never happen, they are always there the following year. Several shops were closed this year so sadly thinking of looking elsewhere next January..

We often stay in or near Wrexham. My partner comes from this area and we visit his mother in a nursing home close by. Usually the accommodation is good. Sadly none of the places we know had a vacancy. It is a busy small town and the people are friendly. There is a great restaurant called the Boat at Erbistock which we visit frequently
