Booked on Booking.com I work away for a living. Last minute booking. The booking was accepted paid £90 which I usually claim back for from my employer. I arrived waited 2hours rang the number provided no answer rang the door bell. Messaged direct on booking.com. After the 2hours after being at work for 12 hours. Rang the White Swan over the road. Upon speaking to the staff at the White Swan they advised this happens a few times a week with the Duns Guest house. No one shows up no contact and it is all a scam. As when you book the guest house confirms. So basically I’ve lost £90. The owner rang back the next day and advised this was detailed within the website and you should ring before I still haven’t seen this option but another thieving landlord that does not care about its guests.

Friendly reception staff. Spacious room with old-style desk and chests of drawers, office chair and a nice bathroom with a bath. Double wardrobe was provided, together with a fridge and kettle. Large car park. I'm glad I brought my extension lead and own tea spoon (as only a wooden stirring stick is provided)!

Rather draughty and noisy in the room, due to the air conditioner, which is not possible to turn off (I asked at reception) and it's hard to find a spot where you're not hit by the cold (or warm) wind from the air conditioning unit. If only the windows would open (even a little bit) for some fresh air. Only one electric socket in the room, by the kettle, so my extension lead was needed.

Quirky room mixed old with new, very clean with complimentary toiletries. Tea,coffee making facilities with complimentary biscuits. Food excellent with specials during the week including a pint. Booking for the restaurant is a must as it gets very busy from 6pm.

Think potential guests should be aware of a steep narrow staircase leading to the bedrooms which could be a problem to some guests. Although it was fine with us, care is needed when carrying your suitcase down.

Location fantastic . Fresh flowers in reception and restaurant as well as on individual tables. Furnishings and carpets very tasteful. Huge bed. Large room overlooking harbour. Large bathroom. Very serene atmosphere. Staff pleasant and smiling. Very clean.

Yes, as a 82 year old I was surprised not to find handrails on left hand side of stairs. Being ancient I need to hold on both going upstairs and coming down! Cooked breakfast was served before we'd finished our cereal and was then taken away and kept warm. Same thing happened at the table next to ours. I noticed that the flowerbed along the front of the hotel wall where we parked could do with a tidy up and some cheerful plants.

The central location in Westerham & the staff, all of whom were pleasant & helpful. The food was good & the family lunch for 26 people we organised was managed very well. Despite the run down appearance, our room was very clean.

The hotel is desperately in need of renovation. We stayed here last some 20 years ago & I suspect it has not been upgraded since. The rooms & corridors look run down & neglected with threadbare & stained carpets, peeling paint & poor maintenance. The good staff & food do not make up for this & is why I cannot say that the room charges represent good value for money
