Phyllis Court Members Club is quintessentially English - croquet on the lawn and afternoon tea. The grounds are lovely, being situated next to the River Thames. It is so peaceful, and one can sit by the river and while away the hours in the idyllic surroundings. The property itself was clean. The bathroom was a good size with a deep bath, excellent shower and Noble Isle toiletries. My husband enjoyed having use of the snooker room. Breakfast in The Orangery was very good with a choice of food. We also dined there on the second evening of our stay. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly.

I was disappointed with our room. There was no view. It was noisy due to what sounded like a pump outside the windows. I found a cheaper price on a site too which was annoying.

The husband seemed a bit stressful in the morning breakfast time panicky when asked for things like sugar etc just have things out then we don't have to ask for everything make life easier for someone who comes across as being very stressed nice man but you can tell he doesnt like that side of the busy and on the Saturday night we went for a drink in the bar at 9 20 pm and he joked about me not having a drink called me miserable so I had one I know he was joking but 20 mins later he didnt serve us all let us play pool that's why the lads who we met got there cans out because he refused us another drink half an hour later at about 9 45 pm on a Saturday night and he was telling us to keep noise down and moaned about noise while he was closing the pub door lets face it men do talk loud when had a drink wouldn't mind but that was are first night socialising since my health has got a lot worst so its a shame really hotel in perfect place hotel nice but don't want to feel like can't relax and be ourselves but the lady of the hotel you are perfect but only stay if don't want a drink on Saturday night

I chose the Breakfast box option which was great. When travelling it is difficult to get a breakfast that is light and somewhat healthy.

A little too far out of town for a traveller using public transport. The pathway to Strathnaver seems to go through someones front yard, but I don't think they were home. There is also no lift and no reception. Access is all contactless.

The room was a hike with multiple staircases. The room was tiny. TV controls illegible - had to guess changing channels. A pair of socks left in the draws from a previous guest. Mould around the bath. Not enough toilet roll - had to ask for more. Unable to use hotel bar d6ue to a function taking place as they didn't have enough staff for residence bar. Also, music from the function was extremely loud. No hairdryer in room, the one reception supplied was cracked around the handle - shocking, you might say! The breakfast room seems to be an afterthought - not very welcoming and food was average - coffee was terrible.
