  We turned up a few hours early for check-in and we were able to go grab some lunch in the bar, then got into our room at 2pm. Emma who checked us in was fantastic (we even got an upgrade to a river view for no extra charge!) Breakfast was delicious, so much choice. The smoked salmon was my favourite! Room was so spacious, wonderful view, and very, very clean

  Breakfast - I would have expected fresh orange juice rather than orange squash/cordial, for this standard of hotel, but that is my only negative about the whole stay Our lunch was delicious and staff were friendly and professional, but a few hours later, some family members were eating in the pub and whilst we sat with them, they had to ask for drinks, cutlery & condiments a number of times before the waiting staff brought them. It was a much busier period in the pub at that point but not the standard of service we had personally received at lunchtime.

  A convenient location and a comfortable stay. Kettle and fridge in the room was welcome.

  I stay at Southgate regularly mainly because of the swimming pool, but now they charge £10 entry. So, with paying extra for the swimming pool together for car parking, it was more than my budget. In the future, i will consider somewhere else further away from town that offers both the facilities free and paying for parking in town as and when needed. A bit disappointing. The restaurant food was average this time and not a lot of choice.
