Our room was on the 5th floor. On the Sunday the room was hot and stuffy. Initially the window was restricted to 1/4 opening. Eventually we found the method to open it fully.

The room was good, spacious and comfortable. Only a short bus ride in to the city.

Found it hard to connect to the tv, we spoke to the assistant manager who was very nice and helpful and described how to do it. Lucky my partner is tech savvy as I don’t know if I would have figured it out.

Very disappointed in our stay. I booked 3 family rooms and got 2 and a triple. So we had to share. One room was infested with flies all over the walls and beds. When I went to reception the man plonked a can of fly spray and said spray the room! I said what do i do then as my daughter is asthmatic. He said he can move us and moved us to a double room. Which we couldn’t fit it and the room stunk of weed as well as the corridor. He then gave us another 2 doubles and we had to move back to the old infested room on the second night. Which was the closest room to a loud wedding disco. Why would they allocate that room to someone who wasn’t apart of that party. We had an event to go to early on both days and we were exhausted by the end of the weekend due to the drama of the hotel situation

Cleanliness, felt like, by charging 20£ less than other hotels in the area, gave them the right to simply ignore the basics of cleaning. When you are a paying guest, regardless of it being £60 or £600, cleanliness shouldn't be compromised. Lucky are those that reviewed the place as being clean, you were lucky, very lucky, or booked a room that come with cleaning included, because ours, hasn't seen a cloth for a while. Small room? Sure. Less facilities? Of course. You cannot justify having certain things for what you pay. BUT you ARE PAYING and, there are things that should meet a minimum standard and CLEANLINESS is definitely one of them and at this, this hotel failed miserably. The hotel is being refurbished, and we were put in the room right next to one being done up. When we first arrived in the room, we were greeted by the workers next door drilling away, and the lights in our room not working. Went to reception and told the lady on the desk about the issue, she promptly followed me and got in the room in a rush, turning the switches on and off (as if i wouldn't know how to use a light switch). She then confirmed by herself that i was indeed right, and it was the lights not working and not my lack of understanding in light switching that was the issue, she knocked on next door (bang bang quarters) and spoke to them and they eventually checked the main board and got it working. We were then woken up 8am with the next room banging on full blast. I personally don't think rooms right next to the ones being renovated should be let out. The owner has to be prepared for this when renovating as well as making guest aware that refurbishment is heavily present in their stay. I do not hold a degree in the dusting area, so i cannot say how many days old is that dust or the origin of it, if is low dust as the TV was pretty central positioned, but the place wasn't clean, simple as.
