Great location, close to both the train station and the old city of York with all the restaurants, market and shops. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable., and a good size for a hotel. Spacious lounge/bar area overlooking the river to relax in. Helpful and friendly office staff, obliging with extra towels.

Buffet breakfast was very basic, with a few options available. Due to large tour groups, we were scheduled for a later breakfast sitting. This sounds like an ongoing issue for the hotel, judging by the signs in the lift.

Loved the pool, the relaxing bar area and foyer. Loved the accessible milk outside the room and fresh water. Friendly staff. Great pillow menu (V shaped would be a welcome addition) Good activities for children - mini golf.

Couldn’t get a table in the restaurant easily. Lack of storage in family rooms Very small family room so not easy to all move around. Housekeeping didn’t restock each day so we had to ask for more basics ie toilet paper/tea bags.

Very clean room, excellent breakfast.Hosts were very informative and approachable. The accommodation was excellently placed being near to the promenade and also the many shops and attractions and the various eateries.

Location in Clifton Village is good. The hotel is a listing building, wi the plenty on character and well serviced.
Negative section of review
As listing building, no lift, with very steep stairs to the second floor. Although the hotel accepts dogs, it is not ideal for dogs as access to the room was difficult with a small pet. Would not recommend it if you are bringing pets. Parking is small and not guaranteed, and you are asked to leave your car all day rather than driving in and out.
Great Missenden, United Kingdom

Very poor shower, bad odours in room from damp and drains, bedside light switches 4’ above bed, dirty, old mattress. I could go on but you get the picture!
