Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.
The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.
During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making center and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighboring Hockley is home to the National Ice Center and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centers are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Center.
In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Center in Holme Pierrepont. Sherwood Forest, Robin’s stomping ground, is near Mansfield, while East Midlands Airport is southwest of Long Eaton.

Nottingham is a fabulous city.
I mainly was in Westbridgford, as cosmopolitan suburb with lovely park, fabulous bars and cafes, lots of beauty and Spa establishments
Great leisure facilities , including The Reformer Studio, a library which holds events and artisan market at weekends.
There a a great Registry office in the park which is perfect for weddings etc.

Many attractions and eateries. Excellent road and tram links.
Night time is busy if all the students are in town and there are homeless
people outside pubs etc. Police are visible presence. It is a vibrant city and the usual nigh time caveats apply.

The University of Nottingham campus is a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city with its grassy spaces, views of the lake and beautiful trees. We had a car, and we were provided with a free parking permit for the duration of our stay. Transport around the city is easy by tram or bus.
We ate at the Orchard restaurant on campus where the menu is good, but there is also a small well stocked supermarket in the Portland building.
Wollaton Hall and deer park nearby is well worth a visit with lovely walks, a nice cafe and the house has interesting exhibitions and friendly informative staff. There is also a childrens; outdoor play area.

None of the shops display the number of the street that they are in. I spent some time trying to find a particular shop. I found the street, but without numbers on the properties, I walked back and forth. I did not visit any of the 'popular places' listed below.
A shopping centre is being demiolished in the middle of the city, involving walking around a building site. Speaking to someone the next day, I gather that the work has been going on for some time.

As an older traveller I found the city centre a little daunting (I lived there in my 20s). I think it has was is called a "vibrant" atmosphere. Lots of different cultures rubbing shoulders which was lovely, and tons of students. Nice to go back for a visit

Very clean and pleasant traffic free city centre.
Very clean and pleasant traffic free city centre. Some nice high quality shops, with several empty unoccupied shops as in most city and town centres. It is over 40 years since my last visit and I feel sure it has improved since my last visit.
The hotel is well placed between the M1 and Nottingham city centre, which was ideal for us. However, either a tram or bus ride was necessary to travel to the town centre. This was fine for us, but may be a problem for some other people. All the staff members at the hotel with whom we dealt were cheery and efficient. The breakfast was excellent and the evening meal that we had there was also very good. The rooms were spacious and well equipped.
The reception staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. I had a quick drink in the hotel bar the drink was presented nicely and reasonably priced. The price of the room was the cheapest I. Nottingham City Centre that night so I wasn’t expecting much, but I was very pleasantly surprised and would definitely stay again.
The hotel was great, room was a good size, clean and bed was very comfortable. Staff were lovely & extremely helpful. We had a fan in our room which was great addition as we would have to usual have to ask for one. Location was amazing and such a short easy walk into the city centre. Breakfast was beautiful and so much option to choose from. I would 100% recommend the hotel!
The location was ideal, just a few minutes walk away from the centre, and the hotel facilities were great. It was very clean; bar, restaurant and breakfast area are very well taken care of, very friendly staff. There was a nice and relaxing atmosphere and definitely a place to enjoy a short city break.
We thought it was lovely located, stylish hotel.
Perfect location for access to city centre via the easy bus route. Couldn’t fault it really.
Would love to try your sister hotel round the corner purely because of the pub next door.
We used this hotel as our go to place for the past 5 years. Its a reasonable price and a very short walk to everything you need weather it's the Motorpoint arena or the city centre. Car parking at a charge is right opposite.
The hotel is well situated being in the centre of Nottingham and close to the railway station.
The rooms are quirky and comfortable. The staff very friendly and helpful.
Reasonably priced hotel with spacious room with a view of the Castle. Excellent location for our trip to the Nottingham Arena.
Handy for the town centre too.
