I stayed here recently and really enjoyed it. The location is excellent—right across from Nottingham Castle, yet surprisingly quiet and peaceful. The room was clean and well-kept, with a comfortable bed and a TV for relaxing in the evenings. Staff were helpful and friendly throughout my stay. Would definitely recommend for a city break!

I booked 3 rooms for family who were staying for a wedding. The stay exceeded my expectations. The Hotel was spacious, set in beautiful grounds and the rooms were all large and clean. The staff were exceptional from the staff serving canapes and food at the wedding to the reception and breakfast staff and even the cleaner we had friendly efficient and flexible service and they couldnt have been more helpful. Great breakfast and lovely spacious breakfast room. I was in the Nell Gwyn room which had a spacious modern bathroom. The other two rooms had more dated bathrooms

FAQs about hotels in Nottingham

Legendary City of Robin Hood

Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.

The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.

During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making center and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighboring Hockley is home to the National Ice Center and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centers are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Center.

In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Center in Holme Pierrepont. Sherwood Forest, Robin’s stomping ground, is near Mansfield, while East Midlands Airport is southwest of Long Eaton.

Unfortunately as our trip was just for one day, we didn’t get the chance to explore Nottingham. We were a wedding guest for a very dear friend getting married on the Saturday but had to rush back to London the day after the wedding so literally just had enough time for a hearty breakfast then we set off home. We would have loved to have seen a bit of the city but we are planning of returning to explore.

We had gone to Nottingham for a show and dinner and that was literally all we did. The taxi fares were much less than we expected and the show was incredible - we went to see Torvill and Dean. We had an excellent Indian meal and gorgeous hotel.

Lovely city and people (most of the time). Lovely low-rise development, and great river locations and parks. Plenty to see, lots of good pubs, restaurants and bars as well as shops. City centre a bit run-down and sad to see a massive former Debenhams sitting so empty on City Square. Lots of begging going on.

The city is hilly, so you need to be aware if you have difficulty with mobility. There are many buses, trams, and taxis to get around the city, although we didn't use them. So many bars, restaurants and art galleries to choose from. We ate at @PANDAMAMA, always a winner for us, and coffee at @COSYCLUB, which is beautiful and highly recommended. During the day, we booked a massage at @CITYBLISS NOTTINGHAM at the Hilton, great value for money. Claire is knowledgeable about a variety of illnesses and can offer tailored sessions. Also highly recommend.

Went specifically for a concert. Only stayed one night. Wished we’d stayed longer…..there was a ‘good vibe in the city centre. The only down side - bloody electric scooters and bikes whizzing around everywhere at ridiculous speeds, even in the pedestrian areas 🙄

The city centre is eroding it gets worse every time we attend an event. The streets are filthy and rubbish is everywhere. There are beggars in your face every 20 yards and evidence of rough sleeping on every corner. Homelessness is a terrible thing but the majority we saw are drug addicts and yes i can say that. You can say that all cities have issues but Nottingham is spiralling downwards. The area of eateries to th side of the theatres is discussing Drunks Druggies and loud youths. I wouldn't recommend Nottingham as a day visiting area we only go if we are attending a concert or event. What a complete s..t hole
