FAQs about hotels in Chicago

Our Kind of Town

Standing proud beside Lake Michigan, Chicago is down-to-earth, friendly, and full of culture. It has outdoor art by famous artists including Chagall and Picasso, and there are some fascinating architectural works from the Art Institute of Chicago.

Home to blues and house music, Chicago has an eclectic music scene that reflects its spirit. The Windy City is also a pioneer in a variety of Americanized dishes from it's European immigrant roots like deep-dish pizza and the Chicago hot dog.

The world’s first skyscraper and Ferris wheel were erected in Chicago. The latter, on Navy Pier, is one of the Midwest’s most visited sights. Also famed is the ‘L’ transport system, whose raised trains circle The Loop, the main business district. Check out its skyline reflection in the shiny bean sculpture in huge Millennium Park.

Home of the Bulls and Bears, Chicago is a stronghold of sport and has teams playing baseball, basketball, American football and hockey, to name a few. If you get a chance, try to catch a game.

Chicago Midway and Chicago O’Hare Airport are both on the outskirts of this vast city, so make sure to leave enough time for travel from your Booking.com hotel, apartment or hostel. And all that jazz.

We went to the Science and Technology Museum, the Art Institute, and the Field Museum. All were expensive to get into, but the Science and Technology museum nickel and dimed you (to the tune of $17-19) for each special exhibit (i.e., 007, the U boat), and in my opinion was too expensive. If you want to go to museums, go to Washington DC. The museum is free, and there are more of them. We did the architecture tour. Most of the buildings are newer (post-2000). I was hoping to hear more about the historical buildings, but it was a nice tour. We also went to Navy Pier - there as a good band playing on Sunday evening. I hit the record for how much I have ever paid for a meal. I don't need to go back to Chicago.

I took the 45 minute architecture cruise. As a disabled person, I found that the dock access for disabled people was virtually unmarked, so I had to ask people along the way and it took me three times as long as it would have if there were signs directing disabled people to the dock

What an incredible City Chicago is. We absolutely loved it.

What an incredible City Chicago is. We absolutely loved it. So clean, nice friendly people and loads to see and do. The River Cruise to see the lake, etc are a must! Breakfast at one of the Egg Harbour locations is essential too! Want true, great value Chicago Deep Dish - Giordanos', just WOW! W also did a Chicago Cubs game which the game itself was pretty boring but the atmosphere and the way the American's celebrate their country and sport is just something you have to experience. So go see a sporting event! We mostly walked everywhere but Uber is very well serviced in Chicago and at least you know what you'll pay before you get in the car. Cell service is great, we purchased 2 Holafly eSIMs prior to travel to enable data without extortionate costs. Well worth it! The food is just insane and we didn't have a bad meal. Everything was such good quality. One thing though, the tip culture out there is ludicrous. I hate the way they circle "suggested tip". I just stayed true to what i believed was fair. 10% for good service is more than enough! Navy Pier was a little bit of a let-down but was still worth a walk to after breakfast. I just wouldn't allot lots of time to it unless a fair and shops are your thing. The Parks are all worth a visit, especially the Buckingham Fountain. Cloud Gate or The Bean was closed and fenced off which was really disappointing as it looked quite impressive from what we could see.

Chicago is definitely my kind of town.

Chicago is definitely my kind of town. It is a big city with lots of history, architecture, beautiful neighborhoods, culture, and great-tasting food. For example, you can visit one of the best aquariums in the United States, if not the world. What sets the Shedd Aquarium apart is its various mini aquariums inside of the museum. One of my favorites was the cute black/white penguins. The aquariums represent ocean/river species from all over the world. It was an amazing experience! They also host a show, but we weren't able to go. The only negative is their pricing structure which seems to be based on the amount of time you'll spend inside. But, it is worth every dime. They even have a reef. The Shedd Aquarium, to me, is the jewel of Chicago. I plan to go again. Speaking of food, one should consider a visit to Hugo's Frog Bar & Fish House if you want great service and great seafood cuisine. It's located in the Gold Coast neighborhood. While there, I enjoyed Hugo's huge crab cake, the delicious calamari, fish stew, and the decadent ice-cream dessert given to me for my birthday and my niece's graduation. Just go, eat and let your taste buds dance for joy!!! One last thing you must do when you visit Chicago: Go eat pizza at Lou Malnati's Pizzeria. It is the local's favorite place for pizza. You won't regret it and forget it. Chau!

    Amazing city, so different!

Amazing city, so different! There are many opportunities here - both cultural recreation (Chicago Theater, Field Museum, Art Institute, Lincoln Park and Zoo, etc.) and others. There are many cafes, restaurants, the streets are very clean, the people are different, free and happy. We were in the downtown and northern part of the city, as well as on the embankment. There are bicycles in the city for easy walking if you need to see a lot of sights in a short time. I want to return to this city again and again! We tried Deep dish pizza at Giordano's - it's gorgeous!

If you are a foodie, Chicago is a great place to be.

If you are a foodie, Chicago is a great place to be. The variety of food options in Chicago is endless; authentic ethnic food from around the world is available if you are willing to look for it. There are also classic Chicago foods available, beyond the deep dish pizza: there are the Chicago style hot dogs, Italian hot beef sandwiches, overstuffed gyro sandwiches and so on. Try a longstanding venue: have a burger or hot dog at a Billy Goat Tavern & Grill (try the original on lower level Michigan Avenue. Or have a steak at Miller's Pub on Wabash in the Loop. The light show set to music at the magnificent Buckingham Fountain is an experience. The central water jet shoots 150 feet straight up in the air. The only downside to it is all the "rickshaws" that are gaudily lit up themselves and all blare the worst music on earth; the cruise around the fountain and hang around it looking for customers. Chicago has many little known historical and cultural gems; for example: the Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures (formerly known as the Oriental Institute) Museum at the University of Chicago, not far from the Museum of Science and Industry. There you will find great exhibits of ancient artifacts from the Middle East. There is no set cost of admission, but they recommend a donation of $10 per person if you are able, well worth the $10. Another gem in that area is the Japanese Garden in Jackson Park. Like the building that houses the Museum of science and industry, it is a remnant of the 1893 Columbian Exposition/World's Fair. It is a small but beautiful out of the way gem not many people get to. A short distance from the Japanese Garden is a 1/4 size replica of the magnificent Statue of the Republic also from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. She is a beauty! Finally enjoy a long stroll along the Riverwalk along the Chicago River and Navy Pier.

Room and view were awesome. Quietest room I've ever had - never heard another door close or neighboring room's conversation. Beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept very well. View on the 30th floor towards the water was beautiful. Perfect walking location to starting line of the Chicago Marathon. Food and drink selection was really good at the hotel. The HI Chicago is one of the best HI I've ever been. Even in the low season, they organized plenty of free tours around the city and museums. Personally, the sunday's tour of the art museum is a must go to. My private room was clean and quiet enough to perform some remote working during the day. The kitchen and breakfast was way beyond my expectations. The position is in downtown close to any major public transit stations. Highly suggested!

The hotel is in a very good location, perfect for all activities in downtown Chicago. The room was nice and clean, and I did not hear the much sound from the street with the window closed. However, the door to the corridor did not block any noise, and one of the other doors made a kind of squeaking sound whenever opened or closed, often during the late evening, which was annoying.

Great location in Downtown Chicago. Decent price on the room rate. We stayed in the King standard room which we felt was nice, liked the interior, comfortable bed, and loved the shower with the spray hose option and a huge shower head on the ceiling above you, a spa feel. I’d stay here again, it was quiet inside the hotel but busy and lots to do downtown.

Perhaps more limited in facilities that you might expect for such a hotel, with not much provided in the rooms, but it is very central and a comfortable place to stay in downtown Chicago.

Great location in downtown Chicago. The room is smaller than most hotels, but it has everything one or two guests need for a short stay.

Location of the hotel was good. You can easily discover downtown Chicago by walking. Also the view from the room was really nice.
