The property is listed as "Staffords' oldest inn". It certainly had character! The location was spot on and the parking was perfect for this stay. I wouldn't hesitate returning again if in the area. Staff were friendly and happy to oblige. Nice choice of draught beers in the bar. The evening meal was superb! Rare steak hand cooked to perfection by the resident (and happy/sociable) chef! It's a real treat these days to get food cooked correctly! They even had a gluten free menu.

The decor in the rooms is a bit shoddy - it's not bad - it's just "the final 5%" rough around the edges..... VERY squeeky floorboards in the room - poor guests in the room below - almost as squeeky as my knees climbing the stairs to the 2nd floor (steep and twisted....the stairs not my knees hahaha) but nothing that would stop me returning again!

The past couple times we’ve stayed the rooms were poor, seemed quite run down and dirty. A fire alarm has gone off twice now anytime we’ve stayed. Ofcourse not your fault as this can’t be helped, previous time I stayed we had a fire alarm at 3am, I had also paid for a late checkout when I had a housekeeper walk in on me just out a shower and seen me topless which was pretty mortifying, I then had a member of staff come up 10 minutes later banging on our door reminding us checkout was at 11 when we shouted we paid for a 1pm checkout she just said ‘oh okay and left’ with no apology. I was absolutely mortified walking out

Weber I walked into the room it absolutely stank of cigarettes. As a non smoker it was awful. I to open the window and spray the room.
