Vancouver is an outdoorsy city ranking among the world’s most livable, sheltered by Vancouver Island and the Pacific Range mountains. The most famous peak, Grouse Mountain, is a favorite spot for hiking and skiing. Take the cable car up for magnificent views of the city's skyscrapers and huge Stanley Park.
Skirting this park is the Seawall, a popular biking trail with paths passing the Vancouver Aquarium, picnic spots and a pitch and putt course. There are also a couple of beaches, but the best ones are along English Bay in Kitsilano.
Granville Island is just across False Creek from Yaletown and houses some quirky shops and markets. Ferries depart from here to near BC Place Stadium and home field of the city’s football and soccer teams. The legendary Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team play next door at Rogers Arena.
With the largest Chinatown in North America, Gastown is the oldest part of Vancouver and is near the Canada Place cruise ship terminal.
We could go on and on about British Columbia's biggest city, but we could never do it justice, so why not try it for yourself? Booking.com has a fabulous range of accommodations, from hotels near Vancouver Airport in Richmond to downtown B&Bs and motels near all of its ferry ports.

Stanley Park is lovely in the Spring.
Stanley Park is lovely in the Spring.
The Lookout was great.
The Trolleybus got cancelled, so went on blue hop on and off bus instead.
The bus was rather old, and lacking comfort on the rough parts, so wouldn't do that again get better vehicles.

Vancouver is a small but growing. Get a day pass from the Waterfront Station and travel the Skytrain, buses and also the ferry to North Vancouver for a great appreciation of the area.

Absolutely loved Vancouver.
Absolutely loved Vancouver. There is so much beautiful scenery around the city, and great food in the city! Would definitely recommend this city to anyone. We drove up to Squamish which was a beautiful drive, where we went rock climbing. Also enjoyed the gondola ride up to Grouse Mountain. Definitely visit Granville market if you're there, and make sure you visit the Marine building too. It's not the cheapest city, particularly for certain activities (Grouse Mountain, Capilano bridge - very pricey), but would still recommend paying this gorgeous city a visit.

I found that the best areas to visit were away from the city, such as Whistler, Grose Mountain, the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Nth Vancouver.
Chinatown and surrounding area was not good with lots of people lying around in the streets. This whole area needs to be cleaned up as it is bad for locals as well as tourists who can no longer visit this area.
Catching the SeaBus and the local bus system was very good as is the good number of Uber drivers which are a great help to getting around the city. Also Granville Island, especially the market is a lovely place to visit.

This is a beautiful city with loads of attractions, I found it was a very drivable city, parking is expensive but accessible, there are free shuttles to activities like Capilano Swing Bridge and Grouse Mountain. The Canada line goes from the airport into the city with a day pass costing 13.25 for adults, the cruise port is also accessible from this line. We did the Hop on Hop off bus to most of the city’s best attractions like Granville Island Market and Stanley Park. I look forward to visiting Vancouver again. Wildlife and Nature abound.
We arrived early morning by train from Toronto and expected to leave our bags at the hotel until check in time, however the staff were very helpful and we were able to occupy our room straight away. The room was spacious, quiet and clean.....11th floor and views over the city. The bed was one of the best we've ever slept in. Robson street is one of the best retail/restaurant streets in Vancouver and the hotel is right in the centre, such a great location. The cafe/restaurant attached to the hotel serves good food & coffee.
This is the best place to stay in downtown Vancouver hands down and I’ve never even stayed anywhere else! From first impressions to last this one probably one of my favorite hotel stays. The concierges were incredible and welcoming I never had to lift a finger for doors or elevators. They put complimentary wine in my room for a birthday and the views are stunning! the room itself is so modern and clean, heated floors, led bathroom lights, integrated plug ins for usb on the lamps, just a 10/10 experience!
Our room in this non-profit hotel was small and pretty basic, but we weren't planning to stay inside during our weekend in Vancouver anyway! It was clean, the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, and the price is a complete bargain for the area. The location is great for accessing the arena, stadium, Gastown and all the downtown attractions. We will definitely be return visitors and would recommend the hotel for active visitors to downtown Vancouver.
My stay at the hotel was unexpected. Because of a medical emergency on my cruise ship we had to spend the night in Vancouver. The location was wonderful, we just walked over from Canada Place. We used the bikes and rode around Stanley Park and some parts of downtown. Enjoyed our stay immensely, the hotel was beautiful and the amenities in the room were top notch.
Maybe a little pricey for what it is (although it is Vancouver after all) but if you’re looking for a “cheaper” place to stay that is pretty well located, this is really good. Walking distance from waterfront and aquataxi, small but cute rooms and fun rooftop patio area. Also right beside a little pho restaurant that had the best spring rolls I’ve ever had
The hotel was the best value that we found. The location was perfect for being a tourist around downtown Vancouver. The room was comfortable, and it was great having the microwave, fridge, coffee maker etc. The staff at the desk were good about providing extra tea and coffee etc as we needed, and they accommodated a later check out.
we had a suite which was very spacious with a great view to the harbour. The bed was large and comfy. The free coffee and tea was delicious. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The hotel is well located in downtown, very close to waterport station. We used public transport to get around in Vancouver.
The Sylvia is an iconic landmark in Vancouver that reminds one of its long history in the area. It is not as modern in its decor as some downtown hotels, but for us that is part of its charm. It was clean, quiet and close to wonderful English Bay. It was great to finally stay there, even for one night.
Opus Hotel is located in an excellent neighbourhood ~ close to downtown Vancouver, surrounded by many eateries and public transport (the airport train station is just across the street). Our room was spacious, well lit and comfortable and serviced daily. Staff were friendly & helpful.
Great value for a lovely hotel downtown Vancouver. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially the bellman and housekeeper. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet except for a bit of traffic noise. We were very happy and grateful to get into our room early.
The hotel has a great location. The staff is very friendly. The complimentary breakfast was a nice surprise! Good choice if you need a place to stay for a couple of nights and be able to easily walk around Downtown. Good price/value ratio for Vancouver.
Enjoyed our stay at the Barclay.A reasonable price for the city of Vancouver.
We used the SkyTrain to come in from the airport and then walked down Robson Street to the hotel.
Many eating establishments nearby.
Excellent hotel, clean and fully renovated, spacious rooms and in one of the best locations in Downtown Vancouver. The view from the Water View rooms is amazing! I will definitely stay at the hotel again.
This is a gorgeous hotel in downtown Vancouver with helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended, especially if you are interested in a more boutique feel. Loved the free bikes!
