FAQs about hotels in Melbourne

Buzzy Jewel of Aussie Rules

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.

Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.

South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

We come from the Central Coast of NSW and it was enjoyable...

We come from the Central Coast of NSW and it was enjoyable to visit such a vibrant city. We enjoyed the French Impressionist exhibition and the Potter gallery. Our tram trip to St Kilda was fun as was the shopping at the factory outlets. The good and wine we had were top class. Shame about the weather! We’ll come in summer next time!

We always love our visits to Melbourne. Great food, coffee and shopping. Chin Chin Restaurant had impeccable food, Our location was perfect and we walked to everything each day. Had a great time except we couldn’t get tickets for a show we wanted to see as too early with our dates, next time! We look forward to returning to Melbourne.

Born and bred in Melbourne, living on the Mornington...

Born and bred in Melbourne, living on the Mornington Peninsula. There is always something to do in Melbourne. We were in town for a night at the Theatre of which Melbourne has x6 fabulous old world theatres, always with something interesting playing. Melbourne is the cultural and sporting Hub of Australia with events like: The Comedy Festival, Melbourtne Cup, Australian Rules Football, Grand Prix, Australian Open Tennis, Sand Belt Golf Tournaments and so many Wineries on the Mornington Peninsula just to name a few. The city itself still has many Gold Rush era grand old buildings and wide well laid out city grid streets and is at the top of Port Philip Bay, a playground in summer with crystal clear waters and hidden treasures with white sandy beaches a plenty for all to enjoy (free). In winter Melbourne is only a few hours from mountaints with ski fields and endless free public access terrain for 4x4'ing and camping. A truely International City with so much to offer, Melbourne has it all and well worth a visit whatever your interest, despite being a million miles from anywhere!

So much history and lots of art galleries. I visited for the Impressionist exhibition. Recommend the Puffing Billy day out. Also visited the Brighton bathing boxes and walked along the coast to St Kilda and took a tram back to Melbourne from there.

Melbourne is without contest the best city in the world.

Melbourne is without contest the best city in the world. The Big Smoke has got a unique Victorian vibe. You gotta visit this city. Its hospitality and people are decent, welcoming, and the city is as safe as being in Hiroshima. The food is multicultural and the night vibe is surreal. Melbourne The Place To Be.

Melbourne is a great city but a bit cold in winter.

Melbourne is a great city but a bit cold in winter. It’s very easy to get around the city and the tram ride within the city is free. We also visited Queen Victoria market which sells souvenirs, fruits and food. We rented a car and travelled a few hours out of Melbourne to Daylesford which was very enjoyable.

Property is on the 11th floor, serviced by a very fast lift. It was well presented and is a comfortable walk to Heidelberg Station (about 600m walk) with a 35 minute train trip into the CBD. The connection to the airport via Uber/taxi is about 35-40 minutes. Our host met us at the apartments and was very helpful in settling us in and showing us the layout of the apartments. Recommend this property for anyone visiting Melbourne but does not want to stay in the City but with the convenience of a quick train service close by.

The hotel is super central to the CBD and Southbank. It is within walking distance to amazing restaurants and bars and Flinders Station is less than a 5 minute walk so you have easy train access. It's location is perfect for any CBD activities. Only a short walk to/from Southern Cross station, the city centre and Southbank. The reception staff were magnificent and helpful...and our room was very clean, contemporary, well appointed and comfortable. We'll definitely stay there again for our theatre-going short breaks in Melbourne.

The hotel is situated within close walking distance from both the airport bus station as well as Melbourne CBD. It’s located on a quiet street, away from the bustling streets which I enjoyed. Room was clean and spacious, plenty of amenities and the hotel costs were very affordable.
