Lisbon is wonderful city break with lots to do and see.
Lisbon is wonderful city break with lots to do and see. It is a very vibrfant city with a lot of culture. Make sure you bring you walking shoes and are prepared to walk up some steep hills pearticulalrly in the old city and near the castle. You can take lots of modes of transports like a tram, a Tuk Tuk or bus to these steep locations. I wouldn't recommend hiring a scooter or bicycle up these hills, but would keep this experience for flatter ground. Scooters should be for very short range trips. We enjoyed hiring the GIRA electric bike and road along the coast up to the beaches. We would recommend GIRA because it is so much cheaper than the other comapnioes like LIME/UBER etc. The trams are great, make sure you try them. The castle experience is also worthwhile. We were disappointed by Lisbon.
We were disappointed by Lisbon. Compared to other European cities, it felt quite dirty, and many people came across as unfriendly. Smoking seemed common even in areas where it’s prohibited, such as bus stops. There is so much to do in Lisbon.
There is so much to do in Lisbon. We did the open top bus tour which gave us a very good view of the city. The information guide was very informative with advice on local attractions. Our stay simply wasn't long enough. We will definitely visit again so that we can visit the many attractions Lisbon has to offer. The transport links are very good and it is easy to get around. We truly enjoyed Lisbon.
We truly enjoyed Lisbon. We stayed for 4 nights and purchased a 3 day package on the Lisbon Sightseeing red bus. Be careful because there is 2 Red Bus companies who will pitch you the same sells package. One does not offer a 3 day package which includes a boat tour for the same price as the other red bus tour company. We were able to complete 2 tour buses a day, and made the boat tour. In the summer, I would recommend get on the bus as early as possible and ride on the top level in the back of the bus as the wind hits the back wall of the bus and comes right back at you. The buses do not have AC. I also recommend taking the boat tour in the PM as it feel nice and cool when it is 101 degrees Fahrenheit / during the summer. Lisbon was rather disappointing.
Lisbon was rather disappointing. It feels like a dead city, there are only tourists and services for tourists. the architecture and structure of the city is wonderful, but you can see the impact of catering to tourists and shoving the locals out. I'm sure if you stay somewhere with real people you'd have a good time, but we stayed in the Alfama district. we got ripped off by a cab driver and pick pocketed at the castle. I won't go back, but I urge you to do more homework than I did before going so you can avoid those pitfalls.Guest review bySadler-Owada
