The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.
2
When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

I was a little bit worried after some of the reviews I'd seen but I had nothing to worry about! I was welcomed very warmly by staff and the room was perfect value for money. Very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I paid my £50 safety deposit in cash at check in and as soon as my room was looked over at check out (less than 5 minutes) I was handed it straight back. Absolutely no complaints!

Everything was great, slight noise from the people in the room next to me but this was no reflection on the hotel or staff themselves who were fabulous!

First night been told we are staying at sister pub down road. When rechecking our booking realised this is stated in description but it is not clear. Disappointing as I'd always wanted to stay in the more period looking pub. :-( On our first night they had a disco and it was extremely loud! Very upsetting after a tiring day of walking and wanting to relax. Why any establishment at the bottom of a mountain in a walkers paradise would want to jeopardise their main clientele and reputation with reviews such as these is beyond me. It went on till 11pm and we had to turn the TV on full to try drown it out even though we were knackered. The next day we had to walk back over to the other pub for breakfast. The guy serving us was absolutely fantastic and the breakfast was great...so we calmed down over the previous night. Another day of walking and the second night was lovely n quiet...how I wish on out first night we had experienced this On this basis as cheap as the stay was we would not return. I think both pubs should be advertised as seperate entities on booking.com as this is confusing and on reading other reviews we haven't been the only people disappointed by this.

A large, clean, and comfortable room in a lovely hotel. Durham is a beautiful city, and the hotel is close to the Cathedral, the castle, the river, and a range of excellent restaurants.

The failure of the hotel gas supply on the day of our departure was unfortunate! Whilst not their fault, it would have been nice if the hotel had offered some compensation for the reduced facilities (i.e the freezing cold showers and reduced breakfast options).

It was comfortable and convenient But has no lift only stairs. Nearby Toby Carvery was convenient for dinner and the onsite breakfast was good.
