At the centre of the Mayan Riveria is Playa del Carmen, a playground for hip Europeans and toned-and-tanned Americans. This resort town showcases the renowned white-sand beaches of the Caribbean Coast along the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.
Playa del Carmen's powdery white sands are nestled between Cancun to its north, Tulum in the south and the island of Cozumel, 20 km east with its fantastic diving in the nearby Great Maya Reef. Awake from an afternoon nap to take a dip, go snorkelling or deep-sea fishing in the beautiful blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Playa is an easy choice as a holiday destination with its range of hotels, many first-class restaurants and beachside nightclubs. Quinta Avienda, also known as 5th Avenue, is the main tourist hub and shopping district. For a more authentic Mexico experience, venture outside of the centre to a local cenote (sinkhole) or Mayan ruins in Tulum.
Cruise ships dock in nearby Cozumel and traffic people to the mainland arriving at the Playa del Carmen Maritime Terminal. If the glimmering Caribbean waters are full, then Booking.com has a huge number of hotels with an outdoor swimming pool by the beach.
Playa Del Carmen is a beautiful, upbeat town! I always think of it as a much better version of the Las Vegas strip- minus the casinos. There is so much to do, the water is breathtakingly beautiful, the food is great, and you can easily get around by bike! The ADO bus has routes to Cancun and Tulum and is very affordable! There are several beach clubs in the area and fun bars! I have travelled solo and always felt very safe! My favorite juice bar is Restaurante Nativo! Their fresh squeezed juice prices are unbeatable and always refreshing! I usually visit them several times throughout my trips there! Get out and enjoy everything the town has to offer. Taxis are fairly cheap as well! I stayed off of 38th and 10th about two blocks from Quinta Avenida and it was nice and quiet but still close to the action! Ian with Playa Bike Rentals was great for renting a bike. He dropped it off to me and his price for the week was excellent! No hidden fees or huge deposits! Harry’s is great for a late night cocktail as well! Also, Mahekal Hotel is private but does offer day passes to access their facilities! I highly recommend for the beautiful private beach if you want great cocktails and a beautiful laid back beach day!

I went there to see a dentist.
I went there to see a dentist. The cost to fly there and stay for week plus the dental visit was less than my cost do it here at home. So, I was there for a week.
The beaches are beautiful and the sun is strong! PDC has a busy shopping district that you have to see. 5th Ave is about 2 miles of shops and restaurants and other services like massages and pharmacies. Lots of junk and somewhat aggressive shopkeepers trying to get you into their store.
The roads that run parallel to 5th are also full of shops and restaurants, but at a much quieter pace. 1st and 10th Ave are a welcome relief from the hustles on 5th.
Be aware of scammers on 5th saying "remember me from the hotel" also you will be offered weed and cocaine many times a day when you walk up and down 5th Ave. You will get used to saying "no thank you" and just keep saying it.
PDC is safe, just keep you're head on straight and don't get too drunk while you're there. And make smart decisions.
PDC is a 3 hour bus ride to Chichen Itza and that is the must see of any trip the region.

The beach wasn't swimmable because it had a lot of rocks, a lot of seaweed and the hotel didn't clean it.
Go to Cancún, Playa del Carmen is not beautiful. The resort: Yucatan princess was the worst part, as the food served there was horrible. I came home very sad.

It was an unexpected delight.
It was an unexpected delight. It's a walkable city close to the beach. It comes alive at night and is so serene to navigate through. The structure of the buildings are gorgeous. I loved also being around the people of Playa Del Carmen; I loved the local feel to it.

Taxi there and back from Cancun but buses are brilliant also.
Fantastic location in playa del Carmen
Quiet , in middle and near beach and 5th avenue. Like few mins walk to each. Apartments were perfect . Bed was an absolute dream. Staff were so friendly and helpful . Breakfast was delicious and with the best service !
Pool and roof area exactly like the picture overlooking the sea. Highly recommend and would return . Such a special holiday . The food in general in Mexico is best I’ve ever experienced on my travels .
Everything!! The resort is spotless and beautifully decorated. The rooms are stunning! They are so clean and so spacious!
For an all inclusive the food is incredible. It is all mainly unprocessed fresh food. I have stayed in many all inclusive hotels all over Mexico and this has some of the best food!
The service was incredible! Everyone is so helpful!
There is so much to do!
I highly recommend this resort as I have been to many others in Cancun and this one is one of the bests.
We had a nice stay over New Years Eve. Location is great for anyone looking to bar hop, shop, or people watch on 5th ave. The front staff was very nice and the parking lot was secure. Cute coffee shop downstairs was perfect for breakfast and beds were super comfortable! We were given a hotel on the 2nd floor which opened up to the pool which was nice. I've ready many reviews about the noise from restaurants/bars downstairs, but it didn't bother us at all.
Fantastic location right in the middle of Playa del carmen, one block from the madness of the 5th street. Many restaurants, shops and bars within walking distance.
From outside you feel like you're in a regular city but inside the hotel it makes you feel like you're in one of those bungalow villas in Asia.
The pool area is very relaxing. We got to use the spa for 30 min and it was a nice relaxing experience.
Overall the bedroom is very comfortable.
Overall good stay, facilities are new and very clean. Pretty sure it's the best value for money in Playa. We had a room on the 5th floor so we had almost a private sun deck, which was amazing since our toddler could play around there.
Great location, bit further away from all the tourist buzz. Nice restaurant below (not belonging to hotel). Clean and new. Just comfortable, not luxury.
Great staff, the employees are amazing! Carlos jaykar and alberto were super nice to us!!
The hotel is in a great location, 5-10 minutes walk from each part of the city.
The room was clean, the ac is amazing, the pool is incredible.
The price is super cheap compared to other places around. I recommend everyone to go there, this is the best hotel we have been on durning our trip!!
Hotel is well located, 2 minutes walking from.the main strip. The 2 pools are clean. Breakfast is good but expensive. The beach doesn't exist anymore, what is left is covered by the seaweed sargasso. The problem is everywhere in playa del Carmen.
There is water fountain included in the room, which is a big advantage so you can just refill your bottles instead of wasting plastic.
The location is amazing if you want to be in the action and there is a beach front area with an adorable bar that I highly recommend! The place is minimalistic. I was only there for a couple of nights and it suited my needs just fine. Everything is in walking distance. And there is even a place to get a massage on the beachfront right at the hotel.
The hotel is close to the ADO bus terminal and to the main touristic center in Playa del Carmen. It's a nice place and comfortable to spend a few nights there. It's also quite close to the less touristic restaurants and bars. A nice beach is just few minutes on foot. Though be prepared for a longer walk to nicer and less crowded beaches.
Very very conveniently located in the heart of Playa Del Carmen and surprisingly very quiet.
It may not be the best choice if you're looking for a "cute" "boutique" hotel but if you want quiet & comfortable in the heart of Playa Del Carmen you probably won't find better.
Room was good, breakfast was really excellent with loads of choice. The hotel was on the beachfront and had lots of pool options. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Location was brilliant and very easy to reach from Cancun airport and travel to nearby areas.
An amazing resort located right in the middle of one of the best beaches in the world. An excellent all inclusive hotel with a wide variety of cuisines and well thought out locations of alcohol and snack bars.
This is a lovely small hotel right on the beachfront. Very welcoming, family friendly with sun loungers on the beach. Great staff, always helpful and have time to stop for a chat and give you advice.
room was nice and big, bright and the hotel itself was pretty. Location great, few steps from beach. The pool was clean and pretty. A fair price considering how expensive Playa del Carmen is now
The facilities were very clean. The attention was excellent and the hotel is in one of the best locations in Playa del Carmen. We stayed there again a week later. I highly recommended it.
The apartment was very comfortable, safe and the pool was very nice. The location was fantastic, being right on the beach and a close 8 min walk to everything in Playa Del Carmen.
Very cheap and Nice hotel close to the end of 5th avenue. If you want cheap, reliable and a pool in at hotel this is definitely where you should stay in Playa del Carmen
