Sunshine Mountain Lodge, hotel in Banff

This ski-in, ski-out lodge is located in at Sunshine Village Resort in Banff National Park. It is 20 minutes' west of Banff city center.

The room was nice and clean, with an amazing view of the mountain and forest. We absolutely loved the location: of course, it is remote, but an opportunity to wake up and immediately be on the slopes the first thing in the morning could not be beaten. The level of service, and friendliness of the staff are amazing - they were always going an extra mile to help us with our questions: be it something simple or convoluted (we had to use Friends and Family discount of Icon Pass for the chair lift, which turned out to be a convoluted procedure, but everybody was willing to spend more time and figure out the solution for us). "Chimney Corner" restaurant is also excellent - both for quality of food and the service.

Last time I was in Banff was 24 years ago, and it hasn’t changed a bit, other than small bits of modern technology. It’s clean everywhere, extremely well maintained. It’s the kind of place you want to be frozen in time in almost every way, and that only thing they add is modern connectivity. The Bad: is they rape your wallet at every turn.

Banff is a beautiful little town right in the mountains.

Banff is a beautiful little town right in the mountains. The views are fantastic and the walk along the Bow River is gorgeous. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, lots of shops and lots if things to do and see. It’s easy to walk around as it isn’t big but it is flat. There are buses to nearby places you may wish to visit too. One thing to note is that Banff is in a national park and as such there is a daily fee to be there.

We loved our stay at Banff Aspen Lodge (as part of our Honeymoon in April). The complimentary breakfast was great value, we always had a variety of foods to keep us full while skiing (rotating oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon, cereal). The location is excellent - easy walking distance to all the restaurants in downtown. April is definitely the time to visit in terms of value for money - there was ample free parking available at the hotel. We loved having a proper barista made coffee at White Bark every day. Spacious shower and double sink.

Hotel is in a great location in Banff. Our plan was to ski which we did each day, alternating between Ski Norquay (20mins), Sunshine (30mins) and Lake Louise (45mins). Close to restaurants, shuttle bus, coffee shops etc. Clothes washer/dryer was great to refresh our stuff after 4 days and before moving onto the next location. Easy free parking right beside hotel. Rooms were clean, decent size and served our needs well. Great value for money. Older hotel but the rooms were completely updated and everything was new and worked well.

It's located close to Banff city centre, about a 5 minute drive. You also get a free bus pass and there's a bus stop right next door. Just make sure to get all the info on public transport in Banff beforehand, there's lots of different shuttles to places like Lake Louise and Moraine. That's not related to this hotel but still worth sharing ;-) Beds were okay, not great but not terrible either. The fridge was spacious enough for our groceries. There was free parking right outside our room.

The location is the best thing about the property. Very close to the centre of Banff and also right by the highway. If you are staying here and skiing at Banff Sunshine, then the access to the main road is an advantage. The self service check in and checkout via the app was awesome since I didn’t have to speak with anyone. I wish more hotels would do the same. Finally, we really liked the design of the rooms and the overall vibe of the place. Wifi was good too!

If you are traveling and plan to stay in Banff National Park, there are several "high end" Hotels / Resorts. The Rim Rock is one of them. It is near the Banff Gondola and Hot Springs and convenient to the Bus that runs every 20 minutes or so to the center of Banff. The Views are incredible and the amenities are super. Not the cheapest place, but one of the best. Highly recommended for that "special" trip ... great in Winter as well as Summer.

The hotel was beautiful, our room was clean and we loved the style of the room. We walked 10 minutes to the heart of downtown Banff - a stroll that was nice because we did a lot of travelling in our car during our vacation. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful in answering our questions and giving suggestions on where to eat, the bus route to Sulphur Mountain/Gondola. The complimentary bikes was a nice touch

The location is fantastic. The 15 minute parking is always full so you'll likely have to find somewhere else to park. Once checked in, you can get a key fob to secure, free parking less that a block away, though! There are lots of transit stops along Banff ave so I would highly recommend taking transit everywhere! The hotel is quirky but cute - mountain views from every room!

I didn't explore much, I just walked downtown to eat dinner. The location is good considering it's the only really affordable place to stay in Banff, unless you want to pay a few hundred dollars a night for a chalet or hotel room. Also, getting there is less of a headache, as you can avoid the main strip that's usually a slow painful drive through town.

The facilities in the room were the best we experienced throughout many hostel/hotels stays across Vancouver- Banff. Big spacious room, comfortable bed, towels provided, black out curtains. The location was excellent, just a short walk across the bridge into the centre of Banff, the 24 hour desk service was brilliant for our very early check out.

The view from the hotel restaurant and patio was amazing: overlooking Banff and the mountains. However the highway is just below so one did have the traffic noise in the background. The restaurant offered creative options. It was possible to walk into Banff - 25 minutes - we were there on Canada Day so parking in town was limited.
