FAQs about hotels in Auckland

Thrilling City of Sails and Volcanoes

Called the "City of Sails" due to the large number of yachts anchored in Waitemata Harbor, Auckland is the largest city of both New Zealand and Polynesia. Built on the Auckland Volcanic Field featuring about 48 extinct volcanoes, this city truly is a blast!

Auckland is a real cultural mix with strong Asian, European, Maori and Polynesian influences, celebrated in frequent festivals and sports events. Some examples of these cultures can be seen at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, one of the best in New Zealand. For more, try the upmarket dining of Viaduct Harbour.

Another must-see is the tallest free-standing tower in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sky Tower. If you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can even perform the Sky Jump, a controlled base jump from 630 feet!

Climbing the volcanic cones as well as the stunning Auckland Harbour Bridge will provide unforgettable, panoramic views of the city’s skyline. For a different perspective, why not try a cruise or sea kayaking?

Getting to the city center is an easy trip from Auckland International Airport. Find modern hotels, comfortable motels and cheap hostels on Booking.com, sure to have the perfect place to stay for your trip.

I like that Auckland is so diverse, and full of things to do and beautiful places to visit. I like how it has our family in it to visit. Also the parks I saw are well kept, and I especially like where there is a true public recycling system and awareness. That people are trying to be careful and follow the recycling rules. The only thing I wish is that the transportation system buses could be more aesthetically pleasing to look at and electrical with charging pads built into the roads here and there as needed.

We stayed overnight which was ideal as we were on our way to a different destination, and we were able to have a quick visit to the city centre and look around the sky city area and the sky tower. We would love to come back again for a longer stay and to visit popular landmarks around Auckland and the surrounding areas.

It's a beautiful city and there are many things to explore. I hope next time when I arrive there, I will gather the courage to do the extreme skytower walking and bungee jump from the Harbor Bridge!

Auckland is great to visit with many places to see. Would recommend a short stay at Auckland in addition to visiting other places either on the north island or south island such as Queenstown (which is what we did). Or if you do have a car it would be worthwhile and easier to travel to other places whilst staying in Auckland. Luckily the weather was great considering it's usually cloudy or rainy making it a perfect day to visit Mount Eden, Cheltenham Beach and Devonport.

This location is very central, we were staying here for a specific reason to be close to the Eye Institute but even if you weren't here for that it is a great location to the city and to south Auckland and the shopping areas. If horse racing is for you then this is also the spot.

The best thing about this hotel is the location - literally across the road from the direct airport bus which leaves from platform E at Auckland airport every 30 minutes. It's just around the corner from the Skytower and a short walk from the city centre and marinas. The room was very spacious and comfortable and the bed was probably the best I have had in a hotel. The room was spotlessly clean.

best reasonably priced quality hotel in vicinity of Auckland airport. Room is spacious and a bit funky (in a good way). Restaurant and bar is pretty good (though drink prices are high). Always a handy option for staying the night before heading to the airport. Now charges $10 for overnight parking but when you see what is the norm for parking at hotels, this is a bargain.
