Bed in 2nd bedroom very soft and not comfortable. Front door key pad was very difficult to navigate, (screen disappeared before you had time to enter code). Rear entrance was fine.

This is the old Las Vegas Mandarin Oriental that Hilton bought and transformed into a Waldorf. While I'm not sure why they changed so much of the hotel's layout, it is still quiet luxury with excellent service in a non-gaming hotel on the Strip.

Hilton turned this old 5 star Mandarin Oriental upside down, not always successfully. The Mandarin's 23 Floor Sky Lobby was truly spectacular but now they've turned the first floor into the Waldorf Astoria lobby. Boring. You now have to change elevators on the 3rd floor where the cafe is, following cheap looking signs, to get to your room. It all feels like they knew they "had to do something to make it different" but now it just feels like an impersonal 5 star money making machine. Go here, go there, but with no real function or style. The 23rd floor is now home to several bars and restaurants that aren't always open. The restaurant Twist is gone, and is now an empty event space. They kept some of the spectacular Asian design from the Mandarin Oriental (thank goodness), and have integrated their more conservative Waldorf Astoria brand style with okay results. That said, the best parts of this hotel are the leftovers from the Mandarin Oriental that truly spent an incredible amount of money on top design, function and style.
