Taos, New Mexico

This is a beautiful resort. Since it's a members' club, rooms are not often available, and we were lucky that an offer breifly appeard on Booking.com. The location is fantastic--right behind the Fitchen House/Museum and just a few minutes walk to downtown/plaza and a short driive to Taos Pueblo. Our apartment was large, clean and nicely furnished (fireplace we didn't use in the bedroooom). I loved the deck which, although it looked out over the pool, had mountain views. The staff were helpful and coffee and cookies in morning were a nice touch. We really appreciated the little kitchen area as well as the guest kitchen which had a full sized fridge/freezer. The lobby area is gorgeous and while we didn't use them the exercise room, library, game room, and other guest facilities were really nice. One of the nicest places we've stayed. A great deal for the price.
Negative section of review
We had no complaints at all about the property. The only negative was that they charged me a $40 "lodging tax" that was not stated up-front anywhere. In addition to the city and other taxes already included on our bill, we paid almost 25% in taxes. It's not the charge to which I object, but rather it being added on without notice.
Teton Village, Wyoming

The location in Teton Village was great. It was close to the tram and other activities in the area. The Moose Wilson Road into Grand Teton National Park was open while we were there so that was a nice drive into the park, instead of having to drive back into Jackson to get to the park. I don't think the road is open year round. The room and property were very clean.

The decor, carpet, furniture and room entry (they still use keys instead of pass card locks) are very dated. It was like going back in time. The carpet in the halls and rooms looked old but it was very clean and well maintained. This hotel was a good bit cheaper than some other options I looked at in the area. It was clean and comfortable so I think it has some value but it probably isn't as nice as nearby properties. We didn't eat at the restaurant and it was too cold and snowy to use the pool or hot tub but those areas looked clean and organized as well. The bed and room temp were very comfortable. The cleaning staff also came by a few hours before check out to see if we were still in the room. I understand trying to get rooms turned over but they could have checked with the desk to see if we had turned our keys in instead of bothering us.

It's new, modern, and gym is among the bests I've seen for a hotel (is shared with the residence, but still 1st tier). Staff during the day is super welcoming.
Negative section of review
For a 5-start, there's some missing points, for example wifi was unstable at breakfast restaurant, front door there's no one welcoming you (small detail, but again is a 5 star), so super small details, but is clearly the concept of a modern 5, if you like it is super nice, if you like more traditional probably you will miss some details.

First room we had smelled of cigarette smoke even though it was a smoke free environment. They were able to change our room quickly. We stayed for 2 nights and they did not clean our room after the first night. We were out all day. Beds were still unmade and there were no fresh towels. They said they do not clean rooms for a 2 night stay. The breakfast was late for opening because the person who runs it was late So we had to go to Dunkin for breakfast.

There literally was someone else’s toenail in one of the beds. Repulsive! No towels, dirty tub, dirty floor. So, happy it is for one night and we’re moving to our desired location. We have not checked out yet but I am so ready to get out of here. We were at another property originally but the pool was out and it feels like they took an old M6 and slipped the Wyndham name on it. Never got the wifi password and tv is direct, it rained so it went in and out.
