I came with my mom and brother and we stayed in a Japanese style room and opted for the public onsen, which we used at night after dinner. There were probably only 5-6 women in there at the time, not crowded or busy. I wasn't expecting much, but the dinner and breakfast buffet were a pleasant experience, especially since we didn't feel like going out of our way to find a good food place in Hakone. It's an absolutely beautiful hotel as well and the people helping us at the front desk offer great service and spoke English well, which made our experience so easy. As a budget traveler, I was a little nervous to spend $350 for a night here, but it was worth the money and experience. (And of course, everything was clean, functional, etc. Just assume the bare minimums are easily covered).”

  Amazing staff and amenities were all part of the enjoyable stay. I just got off 18 day run of Indiana doing work and have to say the Grandstay Hotel topped all the others! Exception of maybe the Comfort Suites which was only a year old. Great job everyone, keep doing what you do. It's been a pleasure staying at your facility. Thanks.

  The hotel is beautiful! The staff was nice & attentive whenever possible. The free breakfast was great! The food was fresh & the fruit was delicious! They also offer a free happy hour allowing guests of age to enjoy 2 drinks of choice on the house

  I didn't like the checkout time being so early. I understand the hotel is large & they have to get folks out in order to allow new guests in, but 11 am is a push. I also think they need to provide more handicap spots in the front & add handicapped spots onto the back lot. The beds are not the worst nor are they the best. The beds are a bit firm for my comfort, but the pillows are superb! The pool is a little small & can be consumed with kids. Maybe an adult pool & a separate family pool would be ideal

  As a resident of Long Island City for the past 4 years, a New Yorker for 7 years, and a traveler for over a decade, I can confidently say that this has been the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I booked this hotel for my parents to stay in New York while attending my graduation ceremony, and unfortunately, their stay turned into a complete disaster. The reasons are listed here. 1. Poor cleanliness: The bed sheet was visibly dirty upon arrival (see attached photo). Although we placed the housekeeping marker requesting a change the next day, no action was taken. We had to personally go to the front desk to ask for fresh linens. 2. Communication barrier: The housekeeping staff did not speak English, which made it extremely difficult to communicate even the most basic requests. 3. Manhattan view? Nope: The advertised "Manhattan view" is highly misleading. Most of the skyline is blocked by surrounding buildings that rise over 50 floors. The only views available are of the Roosevelt Island Bridge and a small corner of Midtown. 4. Unprofessional management: I was charged a first-night deposit, which was never refunded. The final invoice clearly shows that the first night was charged twice. When I reached out for resolution, three different staff members gave me three different interpretations of the invoice. One promised to escalate the matter to a manager, but I never heard back—despite following up multiple times over the next two weeks. I have since had to file a formal dispute with my bank to recover the overcharge. This hotel not only failed to meet basic standards of hospitality but also caused unnecessary stress during what should have been a celebratory time for my family. I cannot recommend it to anyone.
