I love the pool and the location. It was nice having a room near the pool. Front desk staff was very nice. The ability of having either a sit down decent priced meal, to-go meal, or the same in café options was nice also. You can walk to downtown but after a long hot day of walking, it's a pretty far distance walking back upwards to the hotel. We also had the brief opportunity to see a small black bear running through the parking lot.

I hated the fact that a million kids were all over the pool and it was like what every parent did there before bed time to make their kids tired. I get it, I'm a mom. But 9pm-10pm was all us adults got to ourselves without being jumped on or having all the seats soaked because of all the kids spraying water everywhere. Even the pool on top, which is the deep pool, was over run by little kids jumping in everywhere. Yes I intend on getting wet and yes that's part of being in a public pool, but seriously it was not relaxing & I couldn't do laps of any kind. Little kids were not being watched and there were no seats available. The pool cleaning/maintenance guy was very cranky with us. Every vending machine we tried didn't work, ate our money, or was out of everything we wanted. I also hated that the entire parking lot filled to the max at night, so you better get back to your room early because otherwise, you have to park in the spare parking lot and walk to your hotel.

This is an interesting place, in an old bank building. It served our purposes- 3 friends stayed one night before a hiking trip in the area. It has 3 beds in one room, and a second room with couches and a kitchen.

Seeing the same dirty diaper in the parking lot twice in 7 days. I was there on 8/15, and again on 8/22, back and forth to Upper Michigan. I reported it to the front desk on 2 separate occasions. It was still in the same spot when I checked out on the 23rd. Also, walking up to my room on the 22nd of August to find 3 sheriff's police by my door. They were waiting for the girl across the hall to come out of her room so they could arrest her for a parole violation. I could hear the entire conversation from inside my hotel room. I was thankful I didn't have my children with me! I realize they had a job to do, but it was still disturbing and not handled discreetly.
