I came with my mom and brother and we stayed in a Japanese style room and opted for the public onsen, which we used at night after dinner. There were probably only 5-6 women in there at the time, not crowded or busy. I wasn't expecting much, but the dinner and breakfast buffet were a pleasant experience, especially since we didn't feel like going out of our way to find a good food place in Hakone. It's an absolutely beautiful hotel as well and the people helping us at the front desk offer great service and spoke English well, which made our experience so easy. As a budget traveler, I was a little nervous to spend $350 for a night here, but it was worth the money and experience. (And of course, everything was clean, functional, etc. Just assume the bare minimums are easily covered).”

Owner made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. Owner took the time to ask about our plans and make sure we knew how to get where we wanted to go and made a good recommendation for a traditional polish meal within walking distance. We had a nice breakfast with a variety of options including yogurt, breads and spreads, scrambled eggs, meats, cheeses, vegetables and boiled eggs. Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. The Inn is charming. We were in the area to watch a bike race. We were able to walk to and from the gondola base.”

  Hot tub and sauna. I’d like for the tub to get hotter and to not be exposed to the MJ smoking on the deck right above the tub. The sauna didn’t work but was quickly remedied, only to have it not work the next day. The kitchen is small but more than adequate with a full sized refrigerator and upgraded stove and sink. The best part about this rental is the location to local attractions. Although it is near the highway, it is generally quiet.

  The crystals/rocks hanging from the ceiling and the new-age/Eastern religious artifacts and decor. I think a more neutral decor would be better suited to a variety of guests. The TV projector and screen are of poor quality. A large screen TV would serve that small room more than adequately. The sofa in that room is sagging and worn out. There’s no electric plugs by either vanities so hair drying cannot be done easily. Multiple upgrades to this aging guest home are needed.

  This is my second stay at this hotel. Room is of nice size. Beds are comfy. The hotel offers some nice amenities. The room is very clean and is cleaned daily. Close enough to walk to the excitement but not too close.

  The decor is a throwback, which I loved. It felt like stepping back into the 60's. The Moroccon restaurant within walking distance was AMAZING!

  I thought I could walk to the beach within a reasonable distance. It's on a cliff. You would have to walk into town. I didn't have enough time. The desk was not 24 hour, but the place next door was very helpful.

  The staff invaded my privacy by entering the room without my consent. The manager was very disrespectful. The infestation of cockroaches was unsanitary and disgusting and sewer flies that bit my face causing big sores on my face was painful and quite inconsiderate. The smell and disgusting hallways were nasty needed to be vacuumed and the sink fixtures were corroded with black mold. The filthy floor underneath our bed had blood and it looked like feces smeared on the walls. Trash piled up for day’s rotting with a putrid stench. Smashed cockroaches on the walls in the hallways for weeks and drug paraphernalia on the stairs leading outside never picked up was dangerous. No pool access flooded laundry room and no screen on the window of my room was unacceptable and made me feel unsafe.

  The price – definitely not worth the money. Our shower hose was broken, and even though I reported it, it wasn’t fixed during our entire stay. On top of that, the city taxes were extremely high – the highest I’ve encountered in the city so far.

  Not friendly personnel, not willing to navigate us to restaurants, when asked how to get to downtown we were told to find on the google maps, no suggestion what to see where to eat. No encouragement to go downtown, like the town is not worth to go, but it is just opposite. I would like to stress, the reception was not busy at the time. No hospitality skill shown at all. At the breakfast I noticed that personnel was not checking if people had breakfast included in their stay or not and I believe some abused the service.
