I came with my mom and brother and we stayed in a Japanese style room and opted for the public onsen, which we used at night after dinner. There were probably only 5-6 women in there at the time, not crowded or busy. I wasn't expecting much, but the dinner and breakfast buffet were a pleasant experience, especially since we didn't feel like going out of our way to find a good food place in Hakone. It's an absolutely beautiful hotel as well and the people helping us at the front desk offer great service and spoke English well, which made our experience so easy. As a budget traveler, I was a little nervous to spend $350 for a night here, but it was worth the money and experience. (And of course, everything was clean, functional, etc. Just assume the bare minimums are easily covered).”

  No crib provided for 1 year old toddler despite hotel having confirmed request a few days earlier. Very loud misic in neighbouring room with people partying until 2-3 am. No sleep, no rest but still had to pay full price.

  The front desk guy was miserable. Told us they don’t normally allow sports teams to stay there and was one of the most miserable human beings I’ve encountered. My son walked in after a game and dribbled the ball 1 time in the lobby (we already told him to stop) and the front desk guy literally screamed at him (a 9 year old) and told him he would kick our family out if he dribbled 1 more time. This was our first interaction with him and we had just walked in. It was ridiculous. He also told us that no one was supposed to be in the lobby for more than a couple minutes despite their being couches and a TV down there. Parents just wanted to hang out and talk and he told us we couldn’t do that in the lobby. Don’t stay here if you are traveling with others / they clearly don’t want you there.
