- “My wife and I came to Villa Kaliente on our honeymoon, and we are in agreement that the property was probably the nicest place we've ever stayed. That said, we had a complicated stay in Nusa Penida, due to the fact that my wife sprained her ankle pretty severely the second we arrived to the island (stepping off the ferry dock onto dry land). When we got to the villa, we were completely dependent on the staff, because my wife couldn't get around. The staff (and especially the manager Putu) went above and beyond, helping us acquire crutches and an elastic bandage, as well as picking up every single meal for three days! We're very thankful for their help, which saved this leg of the trip. Unfortunately, we were basically confined to the villa for three days; fortunately, it was an incredibly comfortable place to be stuck! We stayed in the king suite on the upper floor, which has an amazing balcony, and the most shockingly high-quality interiors of any place we've been. Everything was beautiful and comfortable: the furniture, the shower, the bathtub, the bed, the built-in cabinetry. We wish we could live in this room!! My wife was on the couch icing her ankle most of the time, and it was the coziest couch imaginable. The fantastic view of Mount Agung from the pool / our balcony is something I will remember forever.”

  Great value. Amazing high quality American breakfast. Maria in the breakfast area truly went above and beyond to offer us a perfect start into the day! For us it was the perfect getaway to Yosemite. For those traveling to Yosemite, be aware that the Welcome Center and Yosemite Valley are still 2.5 hours drive away.

  The front desk team was friendly, but we have had much nicer and more welcoming front desk teams than the one at this hotel. There was mold in the bathroom in our first room. But after a short complaint we got a new and bigger room. The cleanliness of the bathroom was okay, but not a 10 out of 10. Every evening our room key card did not work and we had to go back to the front desk to change it.

  I was able to get a downstairs unit which was very convenient for me taking my belongings out of the car & into the room. the bed is very firm but it was perfect for my back. i rather feel aligned than sunk in. the AC blows out cold crisp air.

  A lot of drug addicts. the bathroom ceiling is molded and has a small hole that leaks droplets occasionally- looks like the bathroom is going to fall apart. our toilet clogged easily and multiple times, like that was an issue before we even came. the floors are clearly dirty so we kept our shoes on. surprisingly the bed looked clean & the room didn’t smell. there was a fly trap with soo many flies on it. & we killed 3-4 flies ourselves, so that’s a thing. the pool isn’t open or cleaned but i wouldn’t feel comfortable swimming anyway. we just needed a quick & cheap place for the night, & it’s safer if you aren’t a solo traveler. if you just need a place to crash, it will do. there’s more than enough parking & we were able to park right in front of the room, so it’s calming knowing our car is good.

  Loved the location. It was one street away from the boardwalk. Room was dated but clean. Ladies on staff were super sweet and helpful. Fridge was huge; necessary for us as our littles have dietary restrictions.

  Desk guy was kind of rude and dismissive. Towels are the size of hand towels so bring your own. TVs had maybe 10 channels. AC hadn’t been cleaned in a bit and filter was covered in dust. No “do not disturb” signs available for the doors to let housekeeping know you didn’t need anything.
