New York is busy, crowded and just full of life.
New York is busy, crowded and just full of life. It was great to experience the nature of what New York is all about. Lot's of places to eat and lots of museums and places to visit and experience. Loved New York broadyway! if you're into musicals or theatre highly recommend for you to watch something. Loved the comedy shows too.
The subway does get a big confusing but it gets easier once you get the hang of it. Not the cleanest city and not the best to get around by car.
As an Aussie there are a few things that makes you think twice about visitng USA again. The first would be the exchange rate and second would be the tipping culture. We don't tip in Australia so to tip at a starbucks of 18% is honestly outrageous. Why am I tipping someone who are just simply doing their job? Happy to tip if the service was exceptional but this is just your standard daily job task. I get the standard wage may be low and they rely on these tips but it's hard to grasp the concept. Sure, there's an option not to tip but we heard thats not the etiquette. Since we are not from a tipping culture we dont know any better.

I love the energy of the city!
I love the energy of the city! It is important to be close to Times Square to access theatre and the arts. We loved the food at Angelina's on Broadway. I also have a special fondness for Sarabeth's Kitchen. Our walk through Central Park was wonderful as the weather was perfect!

A must see city in the US, always busy no matter where you go so plan out a basic schedule of places to see and be sure to use google maps, even if you get lost just hook up to any Starbucks, McDonald’s or any fast food places WiFi to get you back on track. Encourage anyone to make use of the subway so easy to understand, tap on pay plus pretty cheap and run all hours. If you plan on going to museums then try to limit bags because it’s a bit like going through the airport and they will wand you, don't be rude they just take security seriously. Most of all be prepared to walk absolutely miles to maximise your trip, you might get the odd character on the subway but just keep to yourself and enjoy your trip

The distances are so vast, that even if we began using the subway our first day, we walked 20-26 thousand steps every day for 10 days.
Tap your regular credit card on every bus and subway without first making any "deal", and you still don't pay more than any other rebate! Maks 34 dollars a week.
We stayed for 8 nights and overall really liked it. We have been to New York a couple of times and while the location is not the nicest (not dangerous, just touristy) it is the best for getting around Manhattan and beyond. We liked being able to walk to Hells Kitchen for food/drinks and plenty of other areas nearby and when we went further there were several subway options. We thought the bed and pillows were super comfortable and we never had to wait for a lift which is definitely a bonus when we looked at other hotels.
Hotel staff reacted and responded well to initial problems: luggage not brought up to our room after repeated attempts to get them to do so and initial room too small for us. We were offered different, more spacious corner room with great Times Square views, but even then, had to move luggage ourselves, even though we were told it would be taken care off. Partial refund offered, which was appreciated. Location unbeateable for Times Square area and transportation options to rest of Manhattan and beyond.
The location is fantastic in Midtown Manhattan. Just a short walk to Bryant Park, Grand Central Station, Times Square, etc. Shops, restaurants and subway stations are just a few minutes walk. The area is very safe. The room was clean and spacious (I traveled with my spouse and two teen kids - 15 and 13 years old). The breakfast was great. We also went on two free walking tours offered by the Iroquois hotel and those were very informative and well delivered.
If you want to be near Times Square without being smack bang in Times Square, this hotel is a good option. Also near Central Park. Hotel was nice, not quite the same cookie cutter experience as with a lot of the chain hotels which is always a refreshing experience . Rooms were spacious enough and had good amenities. Liked having the ice water available in the lobby to keep hydrated. Got a discount voucher for a restaurant nearby.
interesting design, really good peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle of New York but one tram away which was really convenient. beds were SUPER comfy. Starbucks nearby, cheap convenient transport to Manhattan nearby too. lovely island to explore via walking or cycles. staff are really nice too especially the gentleman who tried his best to make good cappuccino (something we struggled to find in America).
This hotel was in the center of Times Square…close to many restaurants, stores, and even near the stops for the hop off/hop on buses. The rooms were bigger than I expected since the previous hotel rooms I’ve stayed at in New York City have been smaller. Facility and rooms were clean and well kept. The views from the restaurant were all great! Literally in the center of it all!
The hotel is in the best location I've stayed in yet in New York. It's only a short walk from all major attractions - Times square, Bryant Park, Madison square garden and the summit one. The hotel staff were great couldn't do enough for us. Room was small but same as higher priced hotel rooms in New York. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. I would stay again.
On the cheaper end of hotels in Manhattan. Location is very good. I don't mind the size of the rooms, either... My walk-in closet is bigger than the space but it gets the job done (after all, I don't come to the city to stay in my hotel all day). Front desk staff are kind and friendly! Overall a decent value.
Every thing about Westhouse Hotel was amazing.I walked a lot around Manhattan and the Hotel was very close to a lot of places, Central Park, Times Square, MOMA...
My room was large enough and not cramped in, clean and tidy. Westhouse Hotel had all the amenities that I wanted.
the hotel itself is quite small but understandable for new york city. Amenities were all provided and the room was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was great as it was in a quiet area but there were still good restaurants near by.
the location is perfect for exploring the southern part of Manhattan. I’m coming to New York for more then 20 years, but due to business I’ve always stayed in midtown. This area is much more fun.
the hotel is close to a subway station.
I liked the location, on the Upper East Side. Not in the heart of Manhattan, but well served by public transport and within an hour's walk (a very pleasant walk through Central Park or along New York's main avenues) of Times Square.
The rooms were not too small for New York City standards. The hotel is very close to several metro stations and also to Penn Station should you be taking a train somewhere outside of NYC and close to other attractions.
Relative cheap for New York.
Location is good can walk to a lot of tourist spots such as Times Square, Broadway, parks and subway very easy to access.
Rooms are tiny but you’re not in New York to sit in your room.
Great location walking distance to times square and outside Penn Station. Old style New York decor, beautiful reception area.
Great value for money when we went. Cheap for New York.
Friendly and helpful staff.
It is my absolute favorite hotel to stay at when I am in New York City. It is close to many great attractions. It has an amazing private dog park that is attached to the hotel. They are extremely pet friendly.
Everything about this place was wonderful. Beautiful hotel, good view, super close to the tram, at a good cost with friendly staff all around. I don't think I will ever stay anywhere else in New York City.
The Palace/Towers is arguably the best located hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Service all around is outstanding. A little pricey, but NYC as a whole is pricey. Great place to stay if visiting New York City.
