From parking the car to walking into the Principle we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were all fantastic. Our room was spotless and a good size. The towels and bedding were excellent. The welcome tray was good quality and replenished daily. The toiletries were nice especially the hand/body lotion.
The spa area was also good and again spotless.
Location is perfect.
We have already recommended to friends.
We will definitely be back.

Our favorite hotel from our vacation - adored the lounge area and that the room had seperate beds for our kids. Enjoyed dinner in the lounge with the kids playing cards and checkers each night. Delightful relaxed vibe with very attentive and friendly staff. Thier Sunday roast was exceptional

Although abounding in reminders of the past, York is very much a city for the here and now, with excellent shops, bars and restaurants, many along the River Ouse. Surrounding it are the medieval city walls – the longest and best preserved in England – and many of the gates that once gave access to the city.
Walk the walls for wonderful views of the city and towering York Minster. Standing proud on a hill, this cavernous church is the seat of the Archbishop of York, the 2nd highest position in the Church of England.
A little south is The Shambles, a narrow street with medieval buildings that now house quaint shops. Going further back in time is the Jorvik Centre, a fascinating museum showcasing the city’s Viking remains. You can even try out archaeology for yourself at the DIG excavation pits, with replica finds from York’s Roman, Viking, medieval and Victorian eras.
Other York attractions include the National Railway Museum, home to the Flying Scotsman and Mallard trains. Around a 30-minute drive away, Castle Howard is a stately home on an over 1,000-acre estate.
Leeds-Bradford Airport is the nearest airport, and there's a great range of hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses in York and on the outskirts available on Booking.com.
A beautiful city if you are looking for a city break.
A beautiful city if you are looking for a city break. We walked everywhere so didn't need to take a taxi. It seemed like the traffic got very busy at time though due to the one way system which a lot of people complain about.

Parking is the biggest problem, but saying that as York is...
Parking is the biggest problem, but saying that as York is flat it is so easy to walk everywhere. The busses are plentiful and frequent should you want to use them. Everything is within a short walking distance. There are so many things to see, and visit. The array of eateries was quite amazing and the prices more than reasonable. You can go as an individual or family and there are so many things to do and see for all age groups. The people are so friendly and accomodating. York is steeped in so much history.
We came for a 2 night stay. We were very kindly upgraded when we arrived, which was so lovely. The hotel was clean and nicely decorated. The bed and bedding were fabulous like sleeping on a cloud.room facilities were great, tea and coffee station, huge t.v, beautiful veiw from the room. The leisure facilities were excellent, very clean and were open till late so we got to use them after a day and night of walking all of York.Bus stop just outside, to take you into the train station or york city centre. We would definitely stay again.
The location was great. It was easy to find on arrival with free parking and there was a space available at all times of day. The hotel itself was about a 30/35 min walk into the centre of York and all flat. On the day we had too many bags to carry back we paid £4 for an Uber from the city centre back. You are a 4 min drive to the local retail park and a 9 min drive to the designer outlets. The tv in the room had internet access and it was a smart tv for access to Netflix, YouTube etc and full freeview channels.
The property was a good location
However not worth the price per night - £249. And £25 extra to park for eve!
Stayed at another hotel previously that was far cheaper but not much difference in the hotel.
Positive - staff always say hello.
Breakfast was average
For 5 star the stains on silicone could have been cleaned or replaced.
Bit of a trek to room - and mother not too mobile in her 70’s so wasn’t ideal.
But def go back to York for a visit.
This is a complex of restored historic buildings. They have 42 rooms in different buildings. I had booked the lowest priced room and asked for a quiet room. When I arrived the staff said they had upgraded my room (for free) to give me a quiet room. That was nice. I loved the bathtub and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was just over the river from the historic part of York, maybe a 15 minute walk.
Much more like a hotel than an B&B. Room comfy, warm and clean with tea making facilities. We stayed for the York Marathon and staff kindly put out an earlier continental breakfast so runners could fuel up and get to the start line in time. Breakfast very good, didn't use the bar due to early night but looked cosy and decent drink prices. Great location, about 10-15 minute walk to York City Centre.
Gorgeous, clean and cozy, this hotel is probably the best place in York.
The staff is excellent, certainly very well trained and very kind. Their teamwork was very good.
Rooms are gorgeous. We went for the cheapest and it was already large and beautiful.
The food at The Rose restaurant was delicious and prices for that quality are reasonable.
Take me back please.
The hotel is in an excellent location for visitors to York, walking distance to various heritage sites. The building itself is very historic, charming and clean, I was upgraded to a junior suite (thank you) which gave a little more space for the 3 night visit. The room was comfortable and well serviced. Breakfast was nice, bar was pleasant and the staff were helpful.
The room was spacious with good amount of hanging space and a comfortable, large bed. Tea/ coffee/ biscuits provided. Easy to park and walking distance to city centre and all of York's offerings. Bar was reasonably priced and comfortable and the hotel has lots of additional comfortable seating space in it's public area and well kept gardens.
If you're a lover of English cathedrals, it doesn't get better than this. The Dean's Court is located literally across the street from the front towers of York Minster. The hotel is one of those older "Grand Dame" type of English hotels, with a lot of character. Staff was exceptionally helpful. Room was clean, comfortable, and large.
The location is excellent for the city centre & attractions such as York Minster. No need to worry about transport to get around. Hotel staff very welcoming. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Food, including that served in the restaurant excellent. Great break away & the sun shone too.
Loved my stay here! I would book it instantly. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a hotel which such character. the small details of choosing your soaps, and the entrance way, to the very comfortable beds and room decor.
Will only stay here when I visit York ❤️
Exceptional service by the wonderfully friendly staff. The hotel had character, the room was lovely and there were great little touches such as fresh milk, candles in the small courtyard and the availability of York Gin (only a few doubles were consumed)!
The Churchill Hotel is very comfortable, very central a few minutes walk into York City centre, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the bunker rooms are brilliant, fun, romantic, the food was lovely too. A perfect place to stay when in York.
Very well situated for York Railway Station and a short walk into the City Centre. Nice modern hotel with good sized bedroom and walk in shower. Ideal for a short stay either business or leisure. Breakfast plentiful and well organised.
Hotel is in an excellent location just a 5 minute walk to the shambles and York minster. The room was very clean and comfortable, good breakfast with lots of choice, staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again
This was more a pub than a hotel but the landlord was very very friendly and helpful. The location was good and easy to access the centre of York because I like walking! Room was clean, good shower and hot water.
Staff were very accommodating, welcoming and super super helpful.
Our room was lovely - lots of character - and the location of the hotel was just fantastic. Exactly what we wanted for our time in York !
Great location for visiting the centre of York.Bus stop close to hotel to take you in to city centre. Good parking on site. Great choice at breakfast. Staff helpful and friendly. Rooms clean.
all the staff were very friendly.
The room was very clean and a comfortable bed.
Breakfast and other meals were freshly cooked.
Hotel location is great - close to York town center.
Lovely room and nice building. Amazing quality breakfast.
Good location, 15 minute walk into city centre.
