There's plenty to see and do, make use of the underground it gets you everywhere efficiently, but there's a lot of walking and steps, particularly in the stations. If you want to visit an attraction book in advance. Recommend Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London but there's more we wanted to do, however the sites are VERY expensive, we found great value pub, The Wellington on the Strand, near the theatres. Gets busy but the food and service are great. Avoid over priced tour buses unless you have three hours to spare, there's so much traffic it is almost quicker to walk.

My wife and I visited England for the first-time early this...

My wife and I visited England for the first-time early this past April. Unfortunately, our experience in London ruined the vacation. I am posting this to assist anyone else that may consider visiting London, beware all the government there cares about is soaking tourists for every fee and fine they can. We rented a car at Avis Heathrow, not only were they unfriendly they failed to warn us about the hellacious fees and taxes the London socialists place on driving tourists. Avis didn't inform us of the Congestion Tax you must pay daily to drive central London, nor would an unsuspecting tourist find out about it on their own. As a result for the two days we were in London I was fined $300 in fees and administrative cost as a thank you for spending my money in this crummy city. I appealed both citations and never heard back. Reached out again to the Congestion Tax Stasi, never heard back. To make things worse we drove through Tower Hamlets and was fined for another money grabbing scheme, a bus gate violation?? This is how unfriendly London is to unsuspecting drivers, did you know at certain times you can't drive on a ROAD? Now where I normally drive unless a road is physically blocked you can drive on it. Not in London. I appealed this too, Darren Houston Appeals Team Leader for the Borough of Tower Hamlets educated me on the need to bar cars on a road and of course denied my appeal. I posted these issues on social media and received back comments from Londoners that all of this socialist fining, taxing and burdensome rules has been driven by the liberals that have ruined the city. The rest of England was very nice, met some friendly people but London is the purest form of a Tourist "TRAP"

All stereotypes about cold England fall flat.

All stereotypes about cold England fall flat. Extremely accommodating and hospitable people. London is truly special, although certain locations are quite expensive to visit, there are also free museums that are definitely worth a visit. London is a wonderful city to go on your own, with family, whatever. I would always recommend it. The food is great, there are lots of different restaurants, so visiting London is also an opportunity to try different types of cuisine.

Easy to get around using public transport and the transport...

Easy to get around using public transport and the transport staff were always very helpful and pleasant. Using an Oyster card is very easy. Lots to see and do - you really need to decide what you want to do before you head out for the day! Always book ahead even for free places. Be prepared to queue even if you've got a pre booked ticket, I gave up at the British Museum. As a 70+ solo traveler I only felt unsafe once and that was in the Covent Garden area around 6pm Saturday evening. Lot of rowdy people around. Otherwise felt very safe, obvious police presence at really busy places like Buckingham Palace and where there were protests going on. Look at staying away from the center in usually cheaper places and travelling into central London. Be prepared for the volume of people and traffic if you're not used to that.

The hotel was in a good location, about a 10 minute walk to the tube, access to taxis and an easy walk to London CBD. The whole apartment building was beautifully maintained and elegant but our individual apartment needed a few repairs and was not of the same standard. Issues were dealt with by the office as quickly as possible. The apartment was clean, the bed was comfortable but if you are using the lounge room as a bedroom there is limited room.

The hotel is in a very good location for my needs on that visit. Close to Paddington Station with over ground and underground rail links and close to many eating places but not many food shops except some good stores on Paddington Station concourse. The price is reasonable for inner London hotels. Security felt good with a locked front door and a person usually sat in the office by the door. It was warm and the noise levels were quite low.

Clean, modern in both the public areas and rooms. Considering this is at a Travelodge and Premier Inn budget hotel price-point, this totally blows both of them away for style and delivery.
